MN - Philly

Post#1 » by Dewey » Mon Jan 12, 2009 11:52 pm

MN trades Collins(F/C) = 0 years
Cardinal (F) = 1 year
for
Philly trades Dalambert (C) = 2 years

Why? Dalambert is not having a great year, and the Wolves need a defensive center. Philly bails out of a contract year, and MN dumps Collins and Cardinal.

Low risk: Dalambert will hold atleast half of his contract value in future trades, plus, there are no guaretees we'll get a decent C in the draft. Too bad Theo didn't want to hang around MN. He'd fit well right now and I always like him.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Dalembert is paid way too much for his production. I don't think I'd do it. It ruins our cap space for a mediocre player that happens to fit a need.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I'm still against adding anyone to the frontcourt to play significant minutes - Al and Love need burn together. And this is before consideration is given to Sammy's contract.

Even if Love and Jefferson get 34 minutes a game each that still leaves 28 frontcourt minutes. That sounds like the perfect amount for Dalembert. He is paid too much though.

Sammy's overpaid, but its his third year that kills it for me. His position and size fit, but we can do better for the money.

wouldnt do it; daly has been complaining a little bit about minutes recently, i think if you trade a similar contract for him and are prepared to give him 35 minutes a game then it could be a good trade. Otherwise he's just not gonna give you the results

You forget Craig Smith. Gomes at the 4. Both of those would continue to get some minutes, no doubt.

No, good lord no. Daly is basketball dumb, can't put up crap for numbers, and is paid WAY too much.

So you are turning down the trade (or any other) that brings in a defensive big to go with Love/Jefferson because it would take minutes from Smith? Gomes can get plenty of minutes at sf.

Wolves should wait until the draft. I'd take Thabeet on a 4 year rookie deal or even a lower ranked prospect like Jerome Jordan over Dalembert.
