Wiretap says NJ is looking to trade so I looked at what we might be able to do with them...

MN Incoming: Stromile Swift(expiring), Maurice Ager(expiring), Chris Douglas Roberts
MN Outgoing: Mike Miller

NJ Incoming: Mike Miller
NJ Outgoing: Stromile Swift(expiring), Maurice Ager(expiring), Chris Douglas Roberts

Why for MN?

Cuts salary for this offseason, obtains a SG many of us were interested in at draft time, and helps NJ get better now so they can move past Miami and improve our Miami draft pick. We can waive Swift and Ager immediately if there is roster space concerns.

Why for NJ?

They get better now and still don't mess up their 2010 plans. This team could be playoff bound in the East.

Lopez
Yi
Miller
Carter
Harris

That's not bad. Same cap-space for Miller idea as we've seen, but get a young player like CDR as part of the deal. Off the top of my head wasn't CDR more of a SF and older than your typical college hoopster?

I was a big fan of CDR at draft time, but it seems like he's really struggling this year. Has anyone been watching him? Is this a false impression or have the concerns about his athleticism proven true? Or is this simply a case of giving a rookie who doesn't get to play much enough time to establish himself in the league?

He's been injured.

All NBA deals became guaranteed for the rest of the year on January 7th, so this deal wouldn't come with a valuable traded player exception. Since CDR is only a 2nd rounder that we passed on, Hassell's contract doesn't add in enough value for Mike Miller.

You could sub in Ager for Hassell in that case.

Just think we could have taken CDR with our 2nd round pick, but now we simply trade away Miller to get him.

That being said I'd still do this deal, but I think NJ should give up a little more here.

I <3 CDR, but I <3 the cap space this generates even more.

Miller is a ton more valuable than this, jeez, it is selling incredibly low on him.
Wait until he is fully healed from his injury and playing well or get a decent player in return.
Cap Space does nothing for me.

CDR was really playing well at the beggining of the year.

I'm not ready to give up on Miller. Yes he's been sorely disappointing but I think he'll come around soon.

I too have not given up on Mike Miller and I'd rather get a yong center like Josh Boone out of any deal we do with New Jersey.

yes we need boone in order to do this.

the miller for cap space deals only reflect millers value if it includes cardinals contract. if you do not include cardinals contract than you need to bring back a young asset that could contribute in the future. boone could step in right away. cdr would be a try out. cdr would not play above gomes/carney/foye/brew but boone could be a shot blocker off the bench. big difference.
