Minnesota gives/Dallas receives: Miller, Gomes, Cardinal
Dallas gives/Minnesota receives: Howard, Stackhouse

I know what you're thinking. Now wait, just hold on a minute. Minnesota gets Howard for the same package we've been pilfering to Cleveland for Sczerbiak merely by adding Gomes????

Well, yes, yes that is true. But, consider the deal for awhile and it's not as lopsided as you might think. Dallas fills two positions, here. Miller handles the two and becomes a perfect facilitator to compliment Kidd. Imagine the ball movement there. Gomes is the perfect 3/4 hybrid to compliment Dirk. As a further incentive, shedding Howard's deal helps Dallas get further under the cap for 2010 (Howard's deal runs until 2011- yes that's a team option, but better to deal him for value now, rather than cut him for nothing), not to mention Howard was a bit of a distraction last year (admitted to pot smoking, through a party after a playoff loss). Bosh is a free agent that is likely to have his eye on Dallas if they have cap room available.

Dallas:

Kidd/Jet/Barea
Miller/Jet/Carroll
Gomes/Wright
Dirk/Bass
Dampier/Hollins

Minnesota:

Telfair/Foye
Foye/Brewer/Carney/Stack
Howard/Brewer
Smith/Love/Cardinal
Jefferson/Love

Thoughts on this one?

Stack is turning 35 this year and we'd have to pay him $14 mill over the next two seasons, and he's too much of a health risk anyway. Howard would be sweet, but again he's not getting any younger (28) and his contract is even bigger. Plus he's still got to shake that 'bad boy' tag and return to good form on the court. And I can't imagine either of them would be that thrilled about coming to a lottery bound team half way through the season.

I know Miller's contract is big as well, and the contracts roughly matchup, but Stackhouse hasn't played since November and Howard has been in and out of the line-up all season. It would be easier to swallow if there was a pick or a younger player coming our way. I don't think it's the type of trade that a rebuilding franchise makes.

Howard is like marbury, except not as talented. Hes not that great for team chemistry, and i dont want anything to do with him.
And stack is so old i dont think his knees bend anymore

I'd do it. Howard has taken a step back offensively and defensively, but he's still playing way better than Miller. If Miller would stop screwing around I'd say no, but as it is it's too good to pass up.

I think stack only has something like 2 million guaranteed to him next season, so we could cut him and save 5 million next year.

And I would probably do it, but I don't think Dallas would.
