Mike Miller comment at signing

Hey everyone I've been reading this board for quite awhile now, just never have come around to posting. Well I was at the Mike Miller signing earlier at the Oakdale Best Buy and something he said while he was signing stuff for my brother and I.
The guy sitting next to him whom I believe was his friend commented how not a lot of people were there for the signing. Mike responded with, "This is probably my last year here anyways."
I suppose this can be taken in one of two ways. Either he is really unhappy here and wants to move on or he has been hearing the rumors about him being shopped and might not be too happy about it. This caught me off guard that he would openly say this right in front of fans and I wanted to hear if anyone had some information on it and everyone's thoughts on it.
Thanks and hopefully I will actually start posting around here.

Or it's the last signing he does at Best Buy.

I remember someone posting something similar regarding Telfair last year and he resigned, so you never know

There has been numerous trade rumors going around involving Mike Miller. I'm sure he's heard about more than a few of them and could just be assuming that him not being in Minny much longer is inevitable. That's my hope anyways. There is always the chance that he's unhappy here and wants out because of everyone whining that he doesn't shoot enough, isn't making the impact he should etc. I don't know what will happen and I'm pretty neautral when it comes to keeping him versus trading him but I do know that he's a class act and I will wish him well wherever he may be.

Yeah thats true, he is hitting a pretty rough spot lately with the injuries and shooting slump.

Pretty much agree with everything you said here. I hope he does stick around for awhile because I think he can be a great piece when(if) we can ever get back into contention. His trade value also isn't at its highest either so I think we should wait it out.
I get the concept of striking free agency in '09 while the competition isn't as stiff but we will have roughly 7 million to spend after the draft. I think we should be looking at any possible way to unload Cardinal's contract instead of Miller. Add in Carney, McCants, Smith, or Boston's 1st to sweeten the pot. We need to start bringing in more talent and dealing Miller for cap space is not the way to do that, we should find other avenues for that.

I thought that was.. someone's friends brother was working for a moving company that moved stuff for Telfair and heard Telfair say that he liked MN and would want to return.
To the OP. Welcome to the board. Was there a decent amount of people around when Miller said that? It just seems strange to me that no one would have called him out on saying that. Oh and what did you have him sign?

Thanks BC. There was roughly 20-30 people in the line and we were on the tail end. I was questioning myself after we left on why I didn't ask him why he thought that. I had him sign a pair of my Nikes then they had photos at the table which he signed. There was also a guy at the table giving tickets to everyone but mine are upper deck up in row T.

Nice. A pair of NIke's signed by Mike Miller is much better than the only signed T'Wolves thing I have: a shirt signed by Will Avery haha. And I now see that you joined the board two years before I did.. Thanks for not going all do you know when 2005 was(?) on me.

I wish I could have been there. Just about all of us hope he's happy here.
I certainly like him as a Wolf. I not convinced that any of the GF options in
free agency will be that much better for us than just simply keeping Mike.

I had to read that a couple times. I thought you were saying girlfriend options. I was like wtf?

My guess is that this hits it. He's probably just not happy with his play and his injuries and he's hearing the trade rumors on top of it. He might be thinking this just isn't the right place for him. Of course all that can change quite rapidly.

I was torn between girlfriend and Grand Forks.

Yeah my friend was the one who was moving some of Telfair's stuff from storage back to NY. He made it sound like Telfair was positive he wouldn't be resigned. I gave him a lot of grief once he signed.
I'm sure players get a lot of different mixed signals from the front office, media, and their agents to name a few. Miller has probably just heard the rumors and figures that it's plausible.

The other night during the Jazz game, Miller went to the FT line and badly missed 2 FT's barely hitting the front of the rim. The camera panned over to McHale and he was rolling his eyes visibly frustrated and you could tell he had it with Mike. At that moment I just had the feeling Mike is probably gone by the deadline or next summer. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but maybe Miller's getting the same vibe from McHale.
I think Mike could really help in the right situation but he's in the prime of his career stuck on a rebuilding team. Probably disappointment on both sides right now. Mike is the type of player you bring in after the core of a team is constructed which hasn't fully happened yet for the Wolves. Miller's confidence is shaken to boot. I like him and hope he can finish his career in a good situation for him and his family.

Or he was simply frustrated that one of his players missed two free throws badly at the end of a close game. I'm guessing he didn't look exhilirated when Foye did the same thing 5 minutes later in the game.

Right. From what I have heard from McHale is that he likes Miller's work ethic, and acknowledges that he is having a slump. I get the impression from the special features, interviews, etc. that they like him.
That said, if you get a nice trade offer for him, you gotta consider it.
