Wolves/Bulls/Suns

Post#1 » by B Calrissian » Mon Feb 2, 2009 8:24 pm

Wolves
In- Robin Lopez, Michael Ruffin
Out - Craig Smith, Kevin Ollie, Boston 1st

Wolves can cross get defensive center off list of things to do.

Bulls
In - Craig Smith
Out- Aaron Gray, Michael Ruffin

Bulls get a guy that can score in the low post. Smith would be a great fit with Thomas/Noah.

Suns
In - Aaron Gray, Kevin Ollie, Boston 1st
Out - Robin Lopez

Suns get a back up pg (he will be back by play off time, right?), a big guy to try out for the year, and a pick to add another young player to this old team.

After watching him in summer league, I thought R. Lopez would be the perfect compliment to Jefferson and Love; a legit shot blocking seven footer who is a hustle guy and probably wouldn't mind coming off the bench for 20-25 minutes a night. However, he can't seem to get off the Suns bench, even in games where Shaq doesn't play. Not sure what's going on there.

As far as the trade goes, even though they aren't playing him, I don't see the Suns moving him for so little so quickly. But I could be wrong, maybe they've truly soured on him and are ready to cut ties (and they could use the draft picks, I think the two they gave up in the Kurt Thomas deal aren't even protected).

I think Chicago likes Gray, so I'm not sure from their point of view. As far as Phoenix goes if history is any indication most of their moves are cap related (sans Shaq) so I would think they'd be looking more to use Lopez (if they even wanted to trade him) to facilitate a payroll dump.b

^ as far as I've noticed it on the Bulls board I don't really think anyone likes him that much.

@ patrick: well the fans complain a lot about Terry Porter so I think Lopez not playing even when Shaq is out might have to do something with that. but I'm not sure.

anyway, I'd do that deal probably. how's Ruffin's contract looking like?

$797,581 for this year and that's it.

Edit- I just tried the trade on espn's trade machine and it didn't work, it does work on realgm tradechecker though.

That is horrible for PHX. even if he is in porter's doghouse they are not trading him for garbage and a worthless late 1st.
