I say 35 wins this year ....gets us a 8 to 12 first round pick unless we lose it to the Clippers.
How many wins do you think we end up with and who are best choices in the draft at our pick level?

If we had made the coaching change before the start of the season Mchales prediction of a 500. team would have been spot on.

35 is maybe a little high... they're 17-30 now, so they'd have to finish 18-17 to get to 35. Not impossible, but they've only played +.500 ball for a month. Let's see if they can sustain that for three more.
I have NO idea who they should pick 8-12. Total crapshoot in this draft.

35 would have us finishing 15-20. I think we can go .500 the rest of the way out putting us around 38 wins. I guess we will find out. There are many teams that are down a player or two. There seems to be more slumping teams then surging right now.

You've got me checking my math, hockeyman. 17-30 today. 35 games remaining. 35 wins total means they'd need 18 more wins... have to finish 18-17.

I'll say 32 wins.
With the 8th pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves pick....Jrue Holiday...or Tyreke Evans...or Jeff Teague...or Earl Clark...or Jeff Mullens...or Hasheem Thabeet...or Stephen Curry...

Your right, I'm dumb! I was doing that new math...some how in my head 17+15=35

I guess that means that I think 35 wins would be about right. Next time I'll get off my butt and use my calculator!
Proof that I should not be having class tonight from 4-6. Believe it or not I actually did well in calc.

Assuming we get a pick in the 8-10 range this year, most people would probably agree that by means of our 1st pick combined with Miller and expiring contracts we need to acquire another PG and some sort of natural center. What I was wondering is what you guys think about Terrence Williams. I think he is very underrated (ESPN has him as the 40th pick) - 13ppg, 5.5 apg, 9.2 rpg, and he is a great athlete. Obviously doesn't fill the biggest need, but if we lose Miller (and especially if Carney doesn't come back) we could use him as a backup 2 and definitely 3 when we go small ball. Every time I watch this guy I'm more impressed, and while obviously less skilled, his basketball athleticism (a term I like to use) is in the mold of a DWade. He's an unselfish player, good passer, tenacious defender, high flyer, and has good size. While his shooting could use some work, he has steadily improved it over the course of his college career. What do you guys think about the prospect of taking him with one of our later 1st round draft picks?

^^Welcome to realgm!!! 35 wins is attainable but I doubt it. I'd say upper 20's maybe 30 tops. Terrence Williams is a very well rounded player. I guess you could say he's a lesser wade. He's less explosive and not as good of a midrange shooter etc. etc. but it's possible we could look at him later in the 1st. We do have Brewer though which kind of makes it redundant to bring in Williams as they are both in the 2/3 mold.

Remember early in the season when we were sucking and I said I still thought we would win at least 30 games, and people thought I was crazy? Just sayin.

Well, I think we should make a run to get out of the top 10 draftpicks since this draft is projected not deep (I think we need really a top 3-5 pick to get a player that fits a need and is a potential star). And we will not get this high because there are other teams who are sucking more than we do. So we can easily give the clippers this years draftpick. Hopefully next year will be a better draft and we'll get a better player on a higher position. The best thing is even if we do not have our own draft pick this year, we still have options to trade up and grab one of the best players in this draft...

Anyway I'll be happy with this years draft if we get a good PG in Rubio (probably does not come out), Jrue or Jennings (think he needs time but will be good)

I made a 10 dollar bet with my friend before the season that we would win 32 or more games. At first I was hopeless about winning, but now I feel like we will get 31 and I will slit my wrists because I spent my last ten dollars going to the last game of the season to see us lose.

We're like a week past the midway point, not quite almost over.

Our schedule the rest of the way makes it look like 30-36 is about right. I'm hoping for 32 or lower to keep our pick. Right now 35 would lose us our pick, but Toronto and Charlotte are fading fast and when the playoff race shakes out at least 2 out of Indiana, Chicago, New Jersey, and Milwaukee are going to start tanking.
Who would mcHale pick? I guarantee he will either:
1. be undersized
2. play out of position
3. duplicate an established starter
4. not be named rubio, thabeet, or mullens.

What do you mean who will Mchale pick?? He's the head coach now. I know he still has a say in everything but it can't be as much as before. I mean he doesn't have time to scout/fish etc. so what he says may not have as much influence as it did before. At least I hope not. Freddy'll get it done.
