NOH - MIN

NOH GETS: Craig Smith + Kevin Ollie

MIN GETS: Julian Wright + Ryan Bowen (exp)

FOR NOH: While he isn't the perfect fit because he lacks height, Craig Smith provides quickness and strength, and gives them a better bench scoring option at PF. I think he'd pair well with Tyson Chandler behind him. He has a tiny contract for next year, which should help a Hornets team that's over the lux. Kevin Ollie can back up Antonio Daniels while Chris Paul is out, to minimize sliding in a tight race for homecourt advantage. He's not a longterm commitment for next year when the Hornets are over the lux, and he provides veteran play-off experience.

FOR MIN: Julian Wright is intrigueing, but he's not going to get playing time on a contending team in a play-off race. Right now, he's averaging a meager 3.2 PPG. I think he has the tools to be a better all-around player than Corey Brewer and Rodney Carney .. if we can even have Carney stay, Craig Smith will lose more minutes to Love as the season progresses.

I liked Wright in the draft and I don't think Smith is a long-term piece here so I'd do it.

I'd say the Wolves would probably do it. I think the Wolves love Smith's personality. While he is not a long term piece for them, he's somebody they all really like having around.

You make a lot of good points for New Orleans as well. They may be interested in doing it, but probably not without looking around at other options.

Feel like I am just shooting everything down, but I don't see NOH being interested. Sure they would like the pieces we send, but I can't see them wanting to give up on Wright. I may be mistaken, but I still think they see him as a future running mate of Paul down the line with his length and athleticism. If the deal was offered to MN, ya I do it with little hesitation; I just can't see New Orleans being willing to part with the prospect.

Don't worry about negative opinions -- I just appreciate hearing other perspectives. We all project players differently, and have different projections, so any trade benefits from hearing from more than the trade's creator.

Wright was barely a lottery pick (#13 in 2007), and his play hasn't raised his value, has it?

I think Ollie and Smith could be good pieces next season; Smith as a quasi 3rd or 4th bigman depending on matchups and Ollie might be a better fit than Telfair since their overall contribution to the team seems about equal to me, except Ollie is way cheaper.

There's been a few Tyson Chandler rumours floating around, but i'm guessing New Orleans would want a lot more than we're willing to give, he would be perfect here though if his contract wasn't so big.
