Captain Kirk revisited

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgnsThe Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves have been exchanging trade proposals that include a possible three-way deal with the Suns that would send Stoudemire to the Bulls, a Western Conference executive said Tuesday night.
So far, nothing that the Bulls and Wolves have brainstormed has brought the Suns closer to moving Stoudemire. Nevertheless, one proposed deal would send Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas to Phoenix, along with the expiring contracts of Chicago’s Drew Gooden and Minnesota’s Jason Collins. Minnesota would receive the player it covets – Chicago guard Kirk Hinrich – and Bulls guard Thabo Sefolosha.
However, sources say the Wolves and Bulls are discussing Hinrich and Sefolosha for Collins and Brian Cardinal.

I wouldn't hate it, but I think we could get better value for our money. Hinrich is being paid star money, and he is no star. His deal also extends past 2010 .. two years past. Yeah, he fits on the court, but not financially.
KHinrich 10,000,000 9,500,000 9,000,000 8,000,000
Sefolosha 1,931,160 2,759,628
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MIN IN: 11,931,160 12,259,628 9,000,000 8,000,000
Jason Collins 6,200,000
Brian Cardinal 6,300,000 6,750,000
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MIN OUT: 12,500,000 6,750,000
2008-09 MIN SAVES: 568,840
2009-10 MIN LOSES: 5,509,628
2010-11 MIN LOSES: 9,000,000
2011-12 MIN LOSES: 8,000,000
---------------------------------------------
MIN LOSES $21,940,788
Hinrich isn't worth nearly $22 mil, particularly in the valuable 2010-12 period.

If CHI wanted to do a deal with the Wolves, they'd be better off coming up with a three-way that creates a big enough TPE to get the Suns under the lux right now. I'm not sure CHI though is willing to go over the lux this year to get a good deal by getting Sarver under the lux. However, the Bulls have a big market, so they are probably less scared off by bad attendance numbers

His contract compared to his production is not looking hot, but I think if we can add a starting point guard by trading only scraps then lets do it.

Yes! Hinrich is a great point gaurd, does all the little things well. Imagine Hinrich, Jefferson, Love, Foye and 4 first round draft picks. We would be a playoff team at the very least.

i think the cap would flourish in your system. his numbers are down b/c he's playing behind derrick rose and ben gordon. give him 35+ min. and you'll see something along the lines of 16 pts. 7 assists from him.

Im all for this trade, hinrich has been languishing on a team where he has had to be one of the main offensive weapons for too long.
If we get him here he would be behind Jefferson/Foye/Love/!st pick this year in terms o ofensive production and that would then allow him to be a great player again. Remember that his best season came when Eddy CUrry was being an offensive beast down low. WHat would Hinrich be with Jefferson!
THabo is just a great filler

I have no problem with this deal. I really like how Hinrich's salary goes down, particularly starting in 2010, at which time he would be more valuable if we have another point guard we would like to go with long-term. We would then have a good defensive PG with decent size to pair with Foye and make him less of a liability on the defensive end. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it would mean we probably don't draft a PG, but then again a combo guard like Harden wouldn probably be a good fit with Foye/Hinrich. Thabo takes Cardinal's minutes and gives us a little more athleticism at the forward spots.

Bulls seem to like it as well but they want to add Nocioni to the deal in exchange for Miller.

LOVE IT!...I don't even think we need a PG, but Hinrich is one of those guys who will allow Foye to move over to the 2 position without me being mad. That is, he will be able to guard the Vince Carter's and Brandon Roy's of the world that would just flat out demolish Foye. And Foye could take the smaller PGs. This is wonderful.

it's a thought provoking trade. i love kirk but he is not good like old and 4 years contrat but we need to a real PG. i think we make this trade... we are rebuilding, we must take a risk...

I want Sam Dalembert more thank Kirk if the rumors are true(And I like Kirk).
Let's not kid ourselves here; I doubt we could get a significant free agent even if money does talk. I'd rather make a trade and know we are getting a starting center in this league in Dalembert instead of being hopeful for something that might not happen and we end up making a bad signing with our money if we can't get the FA we want(Marvin Williams).
If we get Dalembert, I wouldn't mind Love being off the bench to lead our second unit.
Back to Kirk though...
I like his defensive capabilities and his leadership qualities that he brings to a team. He's getting a ton of flack because he is playing behind a stud of a PG in Rose and basically has the backup duties when his skills could be better used with us for next year.

Oh man I hope we do it, although I think the FO might be scared off by Hinrich's contract.
Sefolosha would be the icing.
