I think the 83 sixers are an excellent example, thanks Devilz.

Contract figures from Greece have been reported as AFTER TAX anyway so Pekovic is really making $7 million after taxes. Throw in the fact that it's Euros and he's basically making $9 million USD.

I agree that for the wolves to be successful with their current front line they have to get a backcourt or wing player who is the best player on the team. If Al remains the number one player, the team just won't be good enough. But as you say, you team up a Dr. J with rebounders like Jefferson and Love upfront and you're in business. If Jefferson's low-post scoring becomes a legitmate second option you've really got something going on.

Naturally it's almost completely unlikely we get a Dr J level player , but the Jefferson-Love combo, while I wouldn't say either will be better than Malone, they each embody Malone's best qualities (offensive rebounding and drawing fouls from Love, great low post scoring from Jefferson) and together I think they will at least equal and most likely surpass that 76ers frontcourt.

I won't say the Wolves best player necessarily, but at least a co-leader needs to be on the perimeter - maybe Harden, who knows - but all in all, I like that there's been past success behind a floor-bound, non shot-blocking 6'10 center.

Makes me wonder, if you were to try and create a modern day 83 sixers team from our roster...

trade Mike Miller/Cardinal for G.Wallace/Nazr
sign Felton
draft TEvans
draft DJames or ETurner

now you have some athletes and some defense and you control the boards

The guys has some great post moves. His style is a bit like Al in that he doesn't play as much of a vertical game. I'm suddenly very excited. It is like having an extra first round pick if he makes the trip!

Damn! He tore the Houston Rockets apart! LOLYaoMing!

Jefferson will be out next year for a bit which leaves us with Love,Madsen and Smith our only 3 bigs on the team

imo we need another big even if we have to get one with the bos pick

Jerome Jordan is the answer to our prayers with the Boston pick.

I don't know about that. What's the success rate of centers drafted that late? < 5%?

Jerome Jordan is a prospect at best. Pekovic>>>>JJ.

Even if we do not like "the fit" he is still a young piece that could look nice in a trade.

I think most people took me more seriously than I meant it.

I'm very bullish on Jerome Jordan as a prospect, and think he has the raw tools, AND SIZE, do end up being a good center. Obviously he's not polished to the point to be able to come in and do it right away, though.

Steer clear of big men with the lotto pick, preferably. But if Mullens, Aldrich, or Rev's newest big man mancrush (the lefty Euro, I forget his name) is sitting there at #17, or Jordan is at #30, the Wolves should pounce. Although the main two bigs appear to be set with Al and Love, and Smith is a capable shot in the arm type guy off the bench, that frontcourt likely won't work without another guy with some size tossed into the mix. We're not even close to being a good enough team that we can forget about drafting a certain position completely.

My big man crush is more of a 3/4 not a center. I am not sure if he is in this draft anyway. He is not a hibbert-like crush either.

I don' mean to compare the two, or your level of smittendom in either case, just saying that we're not really set enough to completely discard the frontcourt as an option in the draft. A perimeter player that can create off the bounce and hit an open jumper or a freak athlete at SF is definitely preferable to me, I just don't think the frontcourt situation should be ignored if something decent's sitting there.

If we draft another 6"9' PF I'm going to bust a bottle over someone's head.

So no Thabeast on your board at all? I am not targetting him but lets say he slips to the miami pick, or if we pick 7-9 range and he is there. I would strongly consider him and move Pekovic in a deal.

Love/Thabeast/Al would be a very dangerous 3 man group. But I do have players above him. Also is the logic that the "project pg" spot is deep at the miami pick.

Thabeet is not gonna slip to the Miami pick unless he gets hurt or completely chokes in the tourny, and even then, someone is gonna bite on that size.
