What if....(*This season)

Lets say that everyone is healthy and Mac starts the season coaching.

Al/Kevin/Gomes/Foye/Bassy
Miller/Cookie/Carney/Ollie/Brewer

Maybe Foye starts at SG right away? (or 6th man) Maybe Love gets serious minutes right away?

How does this season turn out? We went on a nice mini-run in January before the injuries. Could this team approach 35-40 wins? Is our record a reflection of a horrible start and current injuries, was the Jan run a fluke?

Is this to say that Mike Miller becomes what he was in Memphis?

Or the poor man's J Kidd version we have now?

I won't answer until then.

well, I guess to answer that we need to know why he is not producing. Would he produce better with a full functioning team and Mchale? Or is it the whole left-hand-right side theory for Miller?

30-35 is the worst we can pick?

31. That was about what i thought we would win before the season. With a healthy team and Mac letting the players play we probably would be at about 30-31. This team still lacks talent in several areas though.

Well, we saw that combination (McHale coaches, Foye a SG, Al healthy) in January, and the Wolves went 10-4. However, I think with everything going right, the rebuilding team is at best .500. They wouldn't have started that well though, especially with the tough early schedule. Near the end, some teams are tanking, I'd say 38-44.

That may be an average NBA team, but I bet that's still 10+ wins from sniffing the play-offs in the West.

I'd say low 30's.

I thought somewhere in the 30-35 range before the season started so I'll stick with that. Foye started the season in a bad slump, so I can't blame that entirely on coaching. Love probably would have been brought along just as slowly. Maybe they would have started clicking a little sooner?

I said in between 20-30 wins. Possibly in the lower 30s though. Sure, we went on a stretch of winning games in January while Al was here, but even before he went down we were 1-7 in the last 8 games. Randy Foye played well at shooting guard for awhile, but he's back to mostly his career field goal percentage averages when he played point guard (similar to when he played small forward in college).

Mchale's record is 14-28 so far through 42 games coaching. So if you were to extrapolate that to the whole year it would be around 27-55. Granted, various things have happened/could have happened during that time frame but I think high 20s low 30s would have been a realistic expectation.

I put barely missed. I think we could have approached .500 which gives me hope for next year.

I voted 35-40. There are a lot of bad teams this year (us included) but if we were healthy all year we could've gotten some easy wins (SAC, LAC, OKC, etc.) and then upset a few good teams.

That 10-4 month was a "fluke" to a small degree, but I don't think that would have been our only stretch like that either. We would have been very inconsistent either way. But we would have ended up in that low to mid 30s range.
