MN DAL MIL CHI

Post#1 » by the_bruce » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:21 pm

Is simply combined a few of the things I saw here and on the trade board for the past few months.

MN IN: Kirk, Alexander
MN OUT: Miller, Smith

MIL IN: Stack
Mil OUT: Alexander, Ridour

CHI IN: Ridnour, Smith, Williams
CHI OUT: Kirk

DAL IN: Miller
DAL OUT: Stack, Williams

Alexander has always intrigued me as a prospect, but I'm not certain why he isn't getting any minutes. I'm fairly indifferent towards the kirk for expirings and the Alexander part.

Does Alexander not get minutes due to lack of talent, or is it a minutes crunch thing playing behind Jefferson? That's a lot of salary for the Wolves to take on, we should probably be getting something more out of it. Maybe moving up from the Miami pick to the Milwaukee or Chicago pick?

Although what I do like about this is that we could take DaJuan Blair with the Utah pick or Miami pick and have a nice back-up PF with a HUGE wingspan, and not worry about running into a minutes crunch with Cookie or Gomes, because Gomes would be needed more at the 3 without Miller there.

I'd have to think playing behind Jefferson is a big part of it for Alexander.

I actually like Kirk, especially for expirings and even if we draft a PG as they probably aren't going to be ready immediately. I'd do the deal.

Good thoughts there as well on moving up with picks. I also agree Blair would be a much better fit with Smith gone and Gomes playing almost exclusively at the 3.

NBA courts are too big and the games too long and too fast for Blair. I can prove this with a catchy song if need be.

But his arms are about 25 feet long, so I think it all balances out.

But I am interested in the song.

He's Charles Barkley, but with talent, and no police record. I think.

That trade makes some sense for all the teams involved, which is tough to do with a four teamer. Very impressive work.

Personally, I wouldn't trade that much for Hinrich, but I understand several of you would (though finding a compliment to Foye seems like less of a necessity right now. If we did this trade, I'd at least wait until after the draft. There are several PG's in the draft, and we have several picks. If we did the trade before, we'd have three players with 2010-11 deals, and two would be PG's, so we might be tying out hands in the draft.

Lastly, I've hesitated to mention this, but with DAL liking a Miller for Stackhouse + Shawne Williams swap (for play + cap purposes), that's a pretty good deal for us. Since Stackhouse's deal salary matches $7.5 mil, but only $2 mil is guarantee if waived before August, he is in effect, $5.5 mil worth of 2009 cap space. For all of you guys that had free agent dreams of guys like Marvin williams, adding $5.5 mil in cap space to the $2-$3 we already have would put us $8 mil under the salary cap, and make us one of very few teams that could offer more than the MLE. And Stackhouse might have even better trade value elsewhere.

Doesn't matter what Barkley WAS, I'm talking about now. If I had to choose between the two today, I'd rather have Blair at 6'7" with a 7'4" wingspan than Barkley at 6'4" with a 7'4" waistline.

It is a lack of talent. Sleeping with one of the Bucks dancers (got suspended 1 game for it) isn't helping him get minutes either. I wouldn't mind swapping Smith for him though.

There was a thing on ESPN about athletes who are daddies, but not married. Of course Travis Henry was the main focus...of course I give him credit for at least being interviewed as most wouldn't.

Anyway, Dwight Howard has a kid with one of the Orlando Magic dancers. Not that it means anything, but just thought it mildly relevant with the Alexander discussion.

No clue why alexander gets no burn, Jefferson is clearly a part of it.

Well MIL is in a financial bind. Perhaps they would want to swap the future Utah pick for their pick this year?

Doing this also retains Cardinals + Madsen expirings which could be used at some point in the season for an upgrade.

As I said I'm fairly indifferent, but would be more than willing to entertain this sort of deal.

Optionally I could see MN retaining Stacks expiring as shrink suggests. Maybe still making a play for Kirk w\ Card + Madsen + cookie + bos pick? retaining enough of the saved stack money to make a bigger offer at williams bigger than the mle.

Kirk\Foye\Williams\Love\Jefferson

Pretty sick starting 5 imo

I am not even going to comment on Howard.

I am not sure if the Magic have a rule against having relations with the dancers/cheerleaders, but the Bucks do. Seems like a stupid rule but they have had it for a long time.
