KLove - OJMayo debate with a twist

The question I'm asking is are you content with the trade, would you have rather kept Mayo, or would you rather have wanted Memphis to draft someone else like Lopez or Gordon with the #5 pick (although if I understand correctly, Memphis offered the trade later in the day)?

No disrespect, but I feel like this "twist" has already been debated in earnest.

Lopez would clearly be the pick. In hindsight, I would even entertain Lopez over Rose.

I think this would have been a really nice core:

Chalmers/Foye (No Telfair)
Foye/Miller
Gomes/Brewer
Jefferson/Smith
Lopez/Collins

Ditto on Lopez, but I really don't want to bring Chalmers into this because few will defend that decision to trade him.

I guess most agree on that one. I remember months ago arguing on the Bucks forum that a Lopez Bogut trade would really help their team in the long run. I was really really confused when they said it was a terrible offer. At that point I thought they were nuts and I wanted to find out how much they really valued him by editing the trade proposal, but was surprised they didn't even want the number #3 pick.

Edit: found it...

I have to say they would have been better off with Eric Gordon. I just don't think its that hard to find a C or PF to play next to Jefferson but a guy like Gordon who is going to give 22/4/5 at SG on great shooting numbers would have made Jefferson unguardable.

Mayo/Jaric/Walker/Buckner or Love/Miller/Collins/Cardinal? IF Miller is a ghost.

*I would stick with Miller and Love.

Lopez? I'd stick with Love if we're talking bigs, but I'd rather have Mayo or Westbrook, in that order.

Miller has more in common with the average ghost than you'd think.

So you are going with Dwight Howard then? Anyway, I chose option 3. Although, I wish there was an option of someone other then Mike Miller, perhaps someone younger who we could add long term and Brook Lopez. I am simply dumbfounded by the people that would rather have Love and Miller rather then Lopez and Miller though considering Lopez is playing just as well if not better and he fills a position of need.

you're dumbfounded people would rather have somebody who's been almost identically productive to Lopez, even though he plays 6 less minutes a game? Or maybe you want that massive defensive impact of Lopez anchoring the 26th defensively ranked team in the NBA compared to the shameful 27th ranking of the Wolves. Lopez has been good, so has Love. I don't see any reason to complain

Watching the wolves last night made it pretty clear that the back-court is still terrible. I'd go with Mayo. Gordon seems like a pretty good choice too, but I haven't actually seen him play. Lopez would be a better partner for Jefferson than Love.

Except the natural instinct is to complain and think anything else would be better. It does get annoying.

Well, he averages more points, and is much more efficient from the floor, averages over 2 blocks per game. Where are you getting the numbers for the 26th and 27th ranked defenses? Anyway, I don't think it's even debateable that Lopez is a better fit considering he's a legit center and both Love and Jefferson are not.

You guys are starting to sound like the cry babies over on twolvescentral.com. The team can absolutely do nothing right in their eyes.

The trade is done. I love Love. I think he actually is a better all around talent than Jefferson and I think there will come a time in the next couple years where we will be entertaining trading Jefferson. I agree that Lopez is maybe a better compliment to Jefferson because he is a true 7-footer and does have a jumper, however, Love's BBIQ and all-around skill set is off the charts and he just needs some time to figure out how to work around his athletic short comings.

The trade as is was terrific. We are way better off financially, we got two great players for 1 selfish volume shooter. I do wish we would have kept Chalmers and drafted Jordan instead of Pekovic.

I accept your opinion, I just get a little touchy about Kevin Love as both a Kevin Love fan and a Beach Boys fan

I got the rankings from Hollinger's defensive efficiency rankings

top 10:
1 Cleveland (Z, Varejao), 2 Boston (Perk, KG) 3 Orlando (D12), 4 S.A. (Duncan) 5 Houston (Yao)
6 LAL (Bynum, Gasol's ok) 7 Philly (Dalembert) 8 Denver (Nene/Kmart) 9 Charlotte (Meka) 10 N.O. (Chandler)

Now #11 is Utah. They have the decent defensive bigman Millsap and the nightmarish Okur/Boozer combo. I don't think there's any question Love/Jefferson is now and will be a better defensive combo than them, but the difference is we don't have Kirilenko and R Brewer on the wings.

But we will have Corey Brewer.

I'm split between Love and other players. Not that I don't like Love.
Gordon, Lopez, Randolph all sound nice.
Oh man just think of Carney, Randolph, DeAndre Jordan and Corey Brewer playing together. You could substitute Gerald Green for Corey/Carney I guess :E

They might push our alley oops to 5 a year!
