The Chicago Bulls trade: / the Minnesota Timberwolves receive:
Jerome James (80% covered by insurance)
SAS 2009 1st-round draft pick (can be sold for 3m$ cash)
$1.320.000 cash (20% of Jerome James' salary)
Why this might work for the Minnesota Timberwolves:They get 3m$ of revenues by taking on the dead contract of Jerome James. Chicago covers the remaining part by transfering 1.32m$ to Glen Taylor.
The Chicago Bulls receive: / the Minnesota Timberwolves trade:
TPE
MIA 2nd-round draft pick
Why this might work for the Chicago Bulls:They dump 6.6m$ in order to create the necessary space for re-signing Ben Gordon.
-So basically we use our cap space to have Chicago not go into the luxury; I can't confirm it, but the original poster said that insurance covers 80% of James's salary and Chicago would pay the remaining 20%, and then we trade up from Mia 2nd round pick to SAS 1st rounder....
I like it since it gives us another 1st (we could package a couple of 1sts to move up); and Jerome James's expiring would be like Raef's expiring last year (just not as big) where it would be very valuable since insurance is paying it, and we could possibly land a very good player (a prospect or two from the draft, miller, James, and Cardinal's expirings) for an all-star caliber player if we wanted to go that route.
