Summer 2009 Cap Space Estimates

Post#1 » by shrink » Sat Apr 4, 2009 11:19 pm

I had this buried in another thread, but I seem to keep returning to it, so I thought I'd give it its own thread.

MOST:
50,917,798 11 players next year
4,822,800 #1 pick (MIN)
1,465,440 #17 pick (MIA)
1,129,320 #24 pick (UTAH)
977,160 #27 pick (BOS)
---------------------------------------
$59,312,518 .. over the cap

LEAST
50,917,798 11 players next year
2,623,200 #7 MIN
1,392,240 #18 MIA
0,000,000 UTA pick defered
957,120 #29 BOS
---------------------------------------
$55,890,358

The cap last year was $58.68, and it should go down. We could always sell/trade picks to clear more cap space, but I don't think we'll be far enough under the cap to do anything signicant, and to do so would mean we'd have to dump our MLE.

I'm not sure where you're pulling those rookie numbers from, but they're not accurate.

edit: looks like you're using the max salaries for last year's rookies. Might as well use what it's going to be for next year, since we already know what it is: http://www.nbpa.org/cba_exhibits/exhibitB.php
