Who would Mchale draft?

Post#1 » by revprodeji » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:14 am

**I know, supposedly mchale is not drafting this year. But something fun was to predict Mchale's draft fetish. But if he was drafting this year, who would his man crush be?

We know he values tourney success.
He values the "good kid" personality
He values skill more than athletic ability
He does not care about positions much.
He likes old-school players, or players that remind him of 80's players
He likes to draft players that make up for a past mistake.
He likes guards that can score

I think he would be in love with Stephen Curry.

Just a random thought.

Good points. It also seems to be he likes players that are really-realy good at one thing.

Foye = Attack

Brewer = D

Love = Rebound

I could see him liking Thabeet (good at one-thingism)

or Lawson (Tourney sucessism)

or maybe Harden (Good kid personalityism)

Thabeet most likely. He was really going after Brook Lopez, something many fans wanted to strangle him for, but it turned out that it would've been a great pick. I doubt Thabeet is Lopez though

Stephen Curry. Great in college, physically limited at the NBA level.

What? If McHale was really going after Brook Lopez, he would have gotten him, seeing how the Wolves had the 3rd pick and Lopez was picked 10th.

Who all played at the Metrodome? USC and Kansas, so that means DeRozan or Aldrich? Aldrich is a local boy, so he gets the Rickert rub.

rickert rub was a late 2nd rd pick.

Holiday did play here last year, so maybe we would have a curry/Holiday draft?

Yeah, I don't think you can have a more McHale friendly resume than Tyler Hansbrough.

why would McHale take Hansbrough, the only seniors he's taken are Foye and Wally and thats because we were in compete now mode. What about Doody, KG, Love, Marbury, Avery, and Rasho? Seems kind of aggressive to me, maybe too aggressive sometimes.

I would think McHale would be all over Rubio if he was available. I could see him liking Harden, too. If they were off the board, a trade down for Curry wouldn't surprise me. I could see him taking Mullens with the Miami pick, too. He likes bigs and he could teach Mullens a thing or two.

I guess you could compare resumes between Curry and Foye/McCants, but they're polar opposites physically. Plus add Marbury to that list and it seems McHale drafts productive guards, but guards with some athletic gifts too.

If he likes "throwback" players, Rubio is probably as throwback as they come. Stockton/Pistol Pete style.

He likes players who are winners at college level regardless of skill level (McCants, Brewer)

Does not care about measurements and drafts undersized tweeners (Foye, McCants)

Will pick players focusing on specific skills to fill a perceived need (Szczcerbiak, Brewer)

Picks players who turn out to be future stars and immediately trades them (Ray Allen, Brandon Roy)

Will draft white players with very high picks (Nesterovic, Szczcerbiak, Love)

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
