John Wall this Year?
This is from Ford's chat:
Mike, FL: Is John Wall the No. 1 pick in 2010 Draft. He was awesome at the Hoop Summit game.
Chad Ford: (2:12 PM ET ) He was awesome and he'll compete with Ed Davis and a few other freshmen for that. However, there is some buzz that Wall believes he might be eligible for THIS year's draft. I've been doing some digging and will be filing a story later today. The short rub is this: Wall is a 5th year senior and depending on how you read the collective bargaining agreement, 5th year seniors are eligible for the draft as long as the turn 19 in the calander year (Wall does). The league is taking a wait and see approach. If he declares, they'll research and make a ruling. If he does declare and is ruled eligible (two big ifs) he's a Top 5 pick in this draft. Maybe Top 3.
After watching him in the Hoops Summit game, I'm a believer. He'd be in my top three after only Griffin and Rubio.

That would make the #2 pick incredibly interesting. I think Griffin would still be #1, but it's debatable who you take between Wall and Rubio.

Probably, unless we stay at the 6th pick this year and end up 1 pick outside the elite players next year.

Yeah, it may hurt next year, but I'll take the bird in the hand. Wall this year pushes Harden farther down, too. I think it would increase the Wolves chances of getting one of Rubio/Wall/Harden substantially. It cascades, too, might have a positive effect on the quality of guard available at #18.

Re: John Wall this Year?
We're going to the Finals next year anyways, so who cares. Stack the deck this year. Force Ed Davis, Greg Monroe, Jerome Jordan, Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, Cole Aldrich, Kyle Singler, AFA, Willie Warren, and John Wall to declare. Means our lottery pick is worth more, and maybe we'll get legit talent at #18 and #28.

This would be amazing. At # 6 what would be our odds of landing one of the top 3 picks? 20%? I can't be bothered to look right now.

Re: John Wall this Year?
.215 chance of getting a pick 1-3. Otherwise we may have to trade up (although we might have to give up a lot). Still it would upgrade the entire draft class to a more respectable level. I am glad Griffin decided to stay the extra year (so we could have a shot at drafting him now) and if we are lucky, we can have a shot at drafting another talented player. But don't get your hopes up, I agree with Chad Ford that he is a top 3 talent (or 5th at worst case scenario). With a draft class as weak as this, teams will definitely consider taking a chance on him.

21.5%
This must happen. I've been getting all depressed about all the prospects pulling out.. imagine if an A++++ prospect just up and entered out of nowhere.

Holy crap.
Wall is right up there with Rubio and Rose as far as a prospect. If he comes out it would be big.

Re: John Wall this Year?
John Wall should declare for the draft (just try dude). He is pretty much guaranteed to be a top pick, so why risk anything else?

Re: John Wall this Year?
If he does it w/o an agent there is no problem. He cannot be harmed in anyway.
makes you wonder why OJ did not do it? I believe he was older for his class too.

At the hoop summit they listed him at 6'1", 185, not the 6'3" or 6'4" listed on DX, but I could care less. He plays like he's 6'6". Wow, between him and Rubio I can't decide who I'm more excited about. Whether or not we are lucky enough to get either of them, as a basketball fan these are 2 of the most exciting young prospects I've seen in a while.
My nickname for John Wall: Johnny Wow

Re: John Wall this Year?
I think I still like RUbio more, but Wall adds more value and the chance at us getting a top-notch pg. Which is the key concern.

Re: John Wall this Year?
It's not just an age thing.
From what I understand of it, you have to be one year removed from your natural graduating class. Which is the case of John Wall because he's a 5th year senior. Same deal with Bill Walker, but Walker was denied.
OJ Mayo was just old for his grade because his parents put him into school late to start with. John Wall is just a kid who couldn't graduate on time.
Wall becomes a top 3 pick if he gets in this draft.
1. Kings - Griffin
2. Clippers - Rubio
3. Wizards - Wall
4. Thunder - Thabeet
5. Grizzlies - Hill
6. Wolves - Evans/Harden???
Really it only helps us if someone takes a surprise in front of us, or if we get into the top 3. We need Greg Monroe and Ed Davis to declare.

What a travesty it woul dbe if Rubio had to play for Dunleavy.
The hardest team to peg might be the Thunder. Who knows which way Presti might go with his "outside the box thnking."
