DeRozan or Harden

Say the Wolves end up with the 5th pick in the draft, and the first 4 picks end up going 1. Griffin 2. Rubio 3. Thabeet 4. Hill

If it came down to the Wolves wanting DeRozan or Harden, who would you be more interested in? I like Harden because of his calm demeanor, great passing and jumpshot. I don't like his handles or athleticism though. I like DeRozan's athleticism...guy looks like Vince Carter sometimes when he throws it down, and he seems to have the speed of Rose. I wouldn't mind finally getting a SG that has good size (I'm sick of picking the Foyes and McCants of the drafts). Overall I think I like DeRozan a little better.

DeRozan.

DeRozan. I'm tired of undersized players, and I'm tired of guys with high floors and low ceilings. I want a guy who at least has a chance of being a superstar, even if he has a greater chance of being a bust.

Evans, I think. Evans/Harden/DeRozan/Henderson is really close for me.

HEY! You're ruining my thread! No jk lol :-)

I like Evans too...hope we take a guard this year instead of a bigman. Don't really want Henderson though...seems to be more of a role player than a star.

I agree on Evans. DeRozan is #2 and Harden 3 to me.

DeRozan has worse handles than Harden.

Harden's draft stock is largely dependent on his measurements in Orlando this year. If he is near 6'5 then I like him more than DeRozan.

But then, if he is not that tall it comes down to DeRozan and Evans, I would take Evans before DeRozan. Much better playmaker and handles. Greater wingspan and at least cares about defense.

Preaching to the choir here. I'm about as anti-Thabeet as they come on this board.

I'd take DeRozan over Harden. Like stated earlier...this team is already short and unathletic. No more of that.

Please, wait until orlando before we consider Harden slow and nonathletic.

I don't think we need to necessarily wait until the Orlando combine to see how slow or unathletic a player is because combine numbers can be deceiving. Of course the length and height measurements are important though, and Harden's draft stock is strongly dependent on it. I don't think Harden is athletic though, just from watching him he doesn't look very explosive.

To answer the question though, I would take DeRozan over Harden. DeRozan has the height and athleticism at almost an elite level for a shooting guard. Of course he is certainly raw right now but so are most prospects in this draft.

I would also take DeRozan over Evans, but not as easily. I wouldn't be upset if we came away with any of the three to be honest, but I like DeRozan more then Evans because he can play off the ball more, and he looks more athletic as well. I also worry that Evans isn't quite the playmaker that you'd want from someone who is so ball dominant. He does have better handles then DeRozan does though, so I don't know. It's close, but I would take DeRozan.

I am all about size now. We see how difficult it is for the 6'4" and lower guys to establish themselves. No more of that. If you are playing SG on my team you better be 6'5"+. between the two give me DeRozen.

I really, really have not been able to decide between the three (including Evans). I was leaning Evans based on his potential, but now I think Harden and Drezoan are better fits in the half court to operate around Al. Because of the upside, I would probably swing for the fences and go with Derozan. I would be happy with any of the three though. Just no Thabeet is all I care about.

Is there a legit way of obtaining both?

I would cream if the result of draft day included both Tyreke Evans and Demar DeRozan. Its quick/ its new/ its TALL/it's fresh/it's defense/ it's also not McHale's failed experiment.

I do have a hunch that DeRozan will not be there at 18, so I assume its going to fall on a draft day trade which we are almost notorious for. Something that includes either Gomes / Foye / Bench Fodder will really peak my interest for DeRozan. I think there is no doubt in my mind that Evans is our man at the 5 spot. It wouldn't surprise me actually if Evans isn't there (after pre-draft workouts) by our 5th pick...but I don't want to think so negatively.

Ndudi Ebi says hi to your logic.

There is no Orlando this year, the action happens in Chicago.

Would we be wanting to have Evans at point? sg? mix with Randy Foye?

I really can't decide between the 3. The only thing I do know is that if Harden measures out 6'5"+ with shoes he is the clear cut 3rd pick in the draft. Evans vs Derozan is a really tough choice, I think they both have star potential and it depends on if we want Foye as one of our starting guards or as a 6th man. I think a guard rotation of Foye/Telfair/Evans with Miller and Brewer also soaking up minutes at SG looks solid to me. I might lean towards Derozan though, since this might be our last shot to pick up a real difference maker in the draft and I think he has a little bit more potential than Evans. I don't want this team to get stuck in mediocrity and be forced to rebuild again in a few years.

Yes, Ebi turned into a bust and Minnesota looked like idiots for drafting him.

But, if he had actually panned out, Minnesota would look like geniuses while competing for a championship this year.

What I'm saying is that I'd rather roll the dice on a guy who might be able to lead the Wolves to a championship in a few years, or might be out of the league in a few years. Rather than another guy who would definitely be a 3rd or 4th option on a playoff team and that's it.

You always have to take names into account with this as well. DeRozen is am NBA caliber name. Harden is one too. Evans... that sounds like a role player to me.
