What grinds your gears?

I got to go with the articles about McHale’s draft day mistakes. Every year before the draft, I still see stories about the Timberwolves trading Roy for Foye and Allen for Marbury. Trust me, it’s not news.

Seeing people wearing a crap load of twins gear (especially chicks), Vikings gear, Wild or Saints, but never... EVER seeing anyone wear wolves stuff. I see a hat every now and then. Never a jersey besides an old 2000 KG or Wally now and then. That's it, nobody sports the wolves. It's like they don't exist. Even when the Twins, Vikings, Wild are bad they still get 300% more love.

^^Ya nobody wears wolves gear anymore. I didn't even realize it but I didn't have any either until I got a couple shirts about a month ago. Everytime I wear one someone says....wow you've got guts wearing that. You actually like them? Freakin' bandwagoners..who'll be laughing when we actually turn the corner?? ME!!!!!!

I think the posters of this board are fairly good about avoiding the pointless mchale bashing that makes Rube Chat and Strib comments unreadable. The Allen for Marbury complaining is the worst, though. That trade was the biggest no-brainer in franchise history at the time it was made. Pair your future superstar big man with his best friend, a ridiculously talented point guard = dynasty. NO ONE knew at the time that Marbury's strangely shaped skull was filled with such a crazy brain.
What grinds my gears? The "We all know who the Wolves SHOULD pick, but this is who McHale WILL pick" threads. The biggest reason for this is the self-righteousness combined with the doomsday negative attitude. McHale has proven himself to be a capable evaluator of talent over the years.
A few facts:
- Danny Granger and Josh Howard were not selected immediately after Rashad McCants and Ndudi Ebi. Each time, two other teams picking after the Wolves also did not see the "obvious choice."
- Even though the Wolves traded Roy for Foye, they still ended up with around the 6th best player in the 2006 draft while making the 6th selection. This is not as easy as it seems.
- Paul Grant, Blake Stepp, and Rick Rickert were not good draft selections. Wally Szczerbiak, Rasho Nesterovic, and Kevin Love were good draft selections. Sometimes white players can play, and sometimes they can't. Sometimes McHale drafts them, and sometimes he doesn't (see: Corey Brewer over Spencer Hawes, to the shock of many Wolves posters).
Grinding complete...for now.

If the Wolves had an attractive logo, the gear would sell more than it currently does. Bring back the smiling hound, please.

I'm 100% with Steve Holiday.
This perfect hindsight never ends with some people, and while ever tiny indisgression is rehashed for years, two years of good moves are given no credit whatsoever.

Related to that, I f-ing can't stand the talking heads attitude about the wolves, especially the guys like Bill Simmons and Adande who normally have decent things to say about the NBA. They'll write an article about what the lottery teams need to do to get back to the playoffs, and instead of recognizing the talented players or assets the wolves have, they'll make some smarmy quip about the wolves being hopeless and how they should be relocated or contracted. Frustrating.

LOL, yea that is funny. Its like we have no chance to turn things around and we are screwed. I haven't heard any analyst give us any type plan or suggestion in a long time. They just brush over us or say we have problems all over the place and anyone would help. Every other young team is coming up though, and they just need the right pieces to get going.
It also bothers me when I talk to a fan of another team who isn't that knowledgeable about the wolves and when I bring up our future they say something like, "Future? McHale gave that away to his buddies in Boston! Hardy har har!" It's like Al Jefferson is a nobody. Worst of all this happened with a Lakers fan last week, he things the KG trade was rigged. A LAKERS fan complaining about rigged trades/ Go figure.

People that live in Minnesota but cheer for other teams. It's cool if you've always cheered for that team, or if you're from there or something...but it gets old when some asswipe has been a Boston Celtics fan for 2 years but when you say you're a wolves fan they say, "Wolves suck"

Boston fan would be the exception considering that fan is likely a KG fan.

It grinds my gears when ignorant Wolves fans think the Wolves are better than they actually are.
No matter what you think, they're not the second coming of the 99-07 Spurs.
I love the Wolves just as much as every fan here, but come on...

Overrating a team is pretty annoying Gunny, but no need to trash on people. It really grinds my gears when people come in here with some kind of bone to pick and make complete fools of themselves. This isn't a hater thread. Most people on this board are relatively realistic anyways. Is it wrong to have hope? I know I will always have hope for this team and thought it was possible to win 30 games this past season. I still think we could've if things went right. No need to be such a downer.

I'm not a downer, just a realist.
I have hope for the Wolves and hope that they all will play to their potential, but most fans just don't realize that the team just isn't good. Excuses and "what if" scenarios are always made, which is a sign of ignorance.
It's easy to make excuses, but to actually stand by your team and admit that they aren't "there" quite yet is a sign of being a true fan.
By the way, just because Deron Williams and Brandon Roy are a couple of my favorite players doesn't mean I'm not a Wolves fan.

I don't know anyone here who would argue we are the second coming of the 99-07 Spurs. Name one fan who thinks Telfair is Parker or Foye is Manu. As far as I’m concerned, Duncan is one of the best power forwards ever to play the game.

Most here despise what if scenarios. As my first post pointed out, I despise the the what if articles (Shrink and Steve_Holiday agreed with that view even before you posted that). What if we never got caught in the Joe Smith scandal? I don't know, maybe I could have been killed lightning. Do we look like the second coming of the Spurs? Last time I checked, we played like a 24-58 team.
