I think we can get him for an expiring and something else. He's 28 years old, averaged 19.7 ppg, a decent defender, he has great range (.397 3P%), still healthy (played all 82 games), and ends the debate at who starts at SF.

No. Richard Jefferson= 2 words I just don't like together.
I like the word Jefferson quite a bit, but with the Richard thrown in there it almost ruins my love for the word Jefferson.
Ramon Sessions, on the other hand...how can anyone not like that word combination?

somehow for a strange uncertain reason I just don't want to have Richard Jefferson (and his contract) on our roster. just say no.

I think I'd be willing to give up a draft pick to keep him off the team.

I'd do something revolving around RJ as long as the MIL pick was incoming, MN got the #2. I would even toss in Foye depending how the draft comes up. Mostly because of his 2010 cap hold, extention status that year.

RJ + pick + salary for Cards + Gomes + Foye

Probably get them near a 3-5m tpe, ehich should probably be enough to retain sessions & CV.

for
Foye + cards + Gomes

Generates ~3-5m tpe enough to resign session and CV under the lux.

I would only consider doing something like this if MN gets the #2 and WAS ends up at 3 or 4 and they want SG upgrade in MM. Create a package based around miller + pek and\or utah pick for their pick.

To bad none of this is possible, but I did somehow manage to draft all the guys I like for this years draft! That lineup 1-5 is cool though.

It is really sad. His talent is very good. But no where near his contract. It is similar to Hinrich. As a player there is no debate, we would love him, but the contract makes him a negative value. So if Mil wanted him it would cost value on top of him.

Miller+Cookie+Madsen for Jefferson works. Mil would need to include their draft pick. But even then that is a hard pill to swallow. I do not want to use serious assets to add a player older than Jefferson.

I like him more than most, but something like Rev listed with maybe a swap of the Miami pick for their pick (depending on how high it is) would be all I'd probably offer.

Well said. He is a decent player, but would we want to use up $15 mil in 201 cap space for the guy? Would $17 be OK if it was Jefferson and the #10 pick, like an Earl Clark? I don't think so. We just don't have enough garbage to throw back to even it out.

My main concern is that he needs a legit pg in order to be effective. So we can not give up so much that we cannot get that pg.

I'd only consider trading for him if Sessions or Bogut were somehow conveniently placed in the deal. But getting the salaries to match would be a nightmare.

I agree with you on Bogut. He's going to require something more than just expirings, IMO.

Expanding on my last post, let's say everyone stays where they're slotted in the draft we could trade Miller, Madsen, Smith, and #18 to Milwaukee for Jefferson and #10. #5 we take Harden, DeRozen, or Evans and at #10 we probably have a shot at almost every PG not named Rubio, use draft expres and assume Jennings, Flynn, and Lawson are the highest rated and we take one of those 3. We've just significantly upgraded our 1-3. Add a center and that's a nice core.

Miller >= Jefferson (similar sorts of solid production, but miller has better contract)

On that fact alone I probably wouldnt include him in any RJ deal. A simple pick swap and Miller is way overpaying on our end.

Wait until the next trade deadline.

Bogut is a big man with back issues and a lot of expensive years. He'd be expensive right now, but he has Richard-Jefferson-potential to become a good, but overpaid player in the next year.

Wanted. I think keeping this is the present text can't be 100% certain. The quotes this opinion is based on are 6 months+ old now.

If we don't get lucky with this draft, we might have to over pay. Sean Marks. I don't know about his attitude, but Richard Jefferson, along with the other overpaid players, are going to have to play somewhere. Small market teams seem the likely scenario.

He's a good guy and a nice expiring. My issue with him is that he underperformed this year, at least on the scoring side.

A career 14/5/3 player he came off a 16/6/3.5 year to put up 10/6.5/4.5 with us. His rebounding and assists went up and he was a decent point forward, but he put up 20pts or more only 3 times this year.

Jefferson a career 18/5/3 player put up 19.5/4.5/2.5 for Milwaukee. So his boards were less and his assists were less (makes sense with Sessions), but he put up 20 pts or more 39 times. 30 pts or more 7 times.

Yeah, he makes too much and that's unappealing. But at the same time he's a legitimate starter and we only have arguably two in Al and Love.
