Bassy Under the Fire

I am watching the documentary right now. What made Bassy not reach his potential?

I think he is a decent back-up to have, but he is no where near a lotto-pick starter at this age.

What are his honest weaknesses and could he improve those to be a starter? I think this has been his best year yet as far as effect on the team. I still think he could provide good minutes at the pg. Not a starter, but good minutes.

For me it is his turnovers and his defense. He gets out of control and either takes the ball in too deep and then dumps it out (usually to the wrong team) or misses a layup. His shooting improved as the season progressed but he is still too inconsistent. Lastly he does not fight through picks very well and doesn't use his quickness to get back to his man. If we could meld Fragile Foyes shooting with Ollies defense and Bassy's quickness we would have an adequate PG. Until then we don't.

Finishing ability, Defense, and a consistent jumper.

His finished the year strong shooting the ball hopefully it carries over into next season. I love the guy as our backup PG and pace changer.

He's 23. I wish he was a lot better right now, too, but the "hasn't lived up to his potential" boat has hardly sailed yet.

Whenever I think of Bassy, I am reminded of his cousin Marbury. Although Bassy ironically began a fresh start here while Marbury is scrambling to win a title.

Like most other wolves he is horribly inconsistent. If he could become more of a distributer and finish around the rim consistently, making good use of his speed, then he could be a starter.

Bassy's flaws are basically everything outside of passing, and i'm not triyng to be a prick either. He doesn't have a good jumper, he cannot finish around the rim. He's too small to be a good defender etc. He's good at pushing the tempo and making plays in fast break situations but even in the half court his offensive playmaking leaves something to be desired.
