Is Foye on the block?
Raptors fan here
Our team needs an upgrade at SG, and im not one to throw around crazy scenarios. So thinking of relatively decent 2 guards, Foye came to mind. We don't need an all star, just a third option beside bargs and bosh. I know he has had injury struggles and slumps but he is better than any swingman we have.
I don't think the raps have anything to interest minny, but I was just wondering if the organization is willing to trade him?

Re: Is Foye on the block?
It is tough to say what the new GM will have in mind, but I can see him being tradable if the right deal comes along. MN is still hoping he turns out better than he is given the foye/roy trade and his overcoming a sizable set back from his sophmore season injury, but he is far from untouchable.
I do not think the raptors have much MN would be interested in. Places to upgrade mainly in MN are, in perceived order are 1.) Ball control/passing & Defense minded PG, 2.) Defensive 7 foot plus C, 3.) Athletic SF. I don't think Toronto has much to offer along those lines short of draft picks. MN really has no bad contracts to ship out either. I could see Foye being a could fit for Toronto, but can't see an obvious deal to make it work.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
In a 2 team deal, there's nothing that Toronto has that would interest the Wolves short of Bargs, and I doubt Toronto includes him in any package.
It could be the #9 + filler for Foye, but the Filler that Toronto has are bad deals. Humphries or Banks? No thanks.
All thought I would love #9 to get a DeRozan/Harden, Evans, and Mullens draft.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
I don't see anything that works as far as a two team deal. The closest I could come up with that I would remotely consider would be Foye and Madsen for Kapono and #9. If we looked to trade Miller in a another deal that involved the #18 and/or #28, there might be some merit in getting Kapono as a long range shooter, but the contract doesn't thrill me.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
Short answer is no. We have no GM yet so we would have nobody to make that kind of trade.
Long answer is everyone has a price other than an elite few.
Is he being shopped? no...
Could he be had in the proper deal? yes.
But as noted above, Toronto lacks the pure value and fit to make a 2 team trade.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
A Toronto-Minnesota won't work. We don't necessarily need another pick because we have 5 already. This draft class is terrible and NYK drafts before you and they will likely draft Curry who seemed like a player who could have potential (or the best point guard available). Getting a third team involved may work, but I doubt it because I believe we will focus on rebuilding for another year. That also means we probably won't trade Mike Miller and his very attractive expiring contract. I'm not opposed to keeping Miller, but if the right deal came along...

Re: Is Foye on the block?
Hmm I'd consider the kapono based deal depending on where MN picks in the draft and who is available @ 9.
If MN gets one of HArden, Derozan, Rubio, or Griffin with their first pick. I'd definately consider it.
Especially if we grab Harden. if MN could work to jump in front of NYK and grab Curry. Maybe something like Miller for pick swap 9 to 7. They don't have the greatest contracts but you know Nellie would go nuts for Miller in his system, actually NYK would be a great fit too.
Once the draft order is decided then its on!

Kapono has neutral if not negative value due to his contract and one dimentional skill-set.

Agreed. I am not sure what pick Foye could be traded for, but if Kapono is in the deal the pick better be higher than 9.

I don't see the Raptors wanting to include Calderon.

Haha, I certainly don't disagree. I'm sure I don't need to preach to you about needing a PG who can play defense at all.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
I've actually been convinced. Maybe we can pair Calderon up with Jennings in the backcourt?

You guys do not want Kapono, do you realize how much he makes?
Yeah, I know we don't have much outside our core that interests Minny, I was just inquiring!
Thanks guys.

I appreciate your honesty over Kapono. With his contract, I think he is firmly negative.
Personally, as much fruration that we have with Foye the last month (afterthe adulation of a few earlier months), I think it would be hard to say that the 9th pick in the draft is likely to be close to his level of talent. If it was similar, I think the Raptors try to send Humphries to a third team for an expiring, and we get the expiring and the #9.
However, I don't think this is enoufgh for Foye. The best chance for a Foye-to-TOR deal is to consider the pieces you'd get from one of your other trades (Marion or Bosh), and getting a piece you could send to MIN that their team would like. However, we're the icing, and what you need is to figure out what kind of cake you could get from the bigger deal.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
3 Teamer that might work.
MN out: Madsen, Foye, Cardinal, #18, and #28
MN in: Hinrich and #9
Toronto out: Kapono & #9
Toronto in: Foye and Madsen
Chicago out: Hinrich
Chicago in: Cardinal, Kapono, #18 and #28
I think the picks make it better for Chicago and Cardinal is a big expiring for them, but still not sure if they'd take on Kapono's deal. I think getting the #9 would make it easier for us to deal 18 and 28 to get Hinrich.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
Foye for #9 pick? just do it, first of all Foye is up for contract extension, which will eat up some of 2010 capspace, and then you can draft Holiday with #9, and Harden with the wolves pick, Holiday/Harden backcourt has some great potential, Harden is a great second option to Jefferson, guys like Holiday and Brewer can help lock up the perimeter on defense to cover Love/Jefferson frontcourt.

Re: Is Foye on the block?
The 3 team deal overinflated the value of hinrich. We could get hinrich for cardinal and the 18th if we wanted to.
That being said. If we move Foye for the 9th pick it moves us younger. Our core is slipping in age to
23-Brewer
20-Love
with
24-Jefferson
26-Gomes
Foye at 26 is the elder of the group.
OT: why does everyone assume Jefferson is so much older? Dude is 24.
