This trade might be brilliant. Hughes is an expiring, so it's not taking on a bad deal. Plus he's also stupid enough to shoot us OUT of games, guaranteeing we lose and completely throw away next year, thus keeping our pick from the Clippers and getting a shot at Wall, Aldrich, Motiejunas, or Turner. Plus we get #8.
So we draft Harden/Thabeet and Evans, and next year we pick up Turner or Aldrich.
Roster of the future.
C - Aldrich/Love
PF - Jefferson/Gomes
SF - Brewer
SG - Harden
PG - Evans
or
C - Thabeet/Love
PF - Jefferson/Gomes
SF - Brewer
SG - Turner
PG - Evans
Pretty.

This isn't that bad of an idea. I'd guess more value than madsen from a player perspective would get it done.
Miller + Gomes + picks for Hughes + pick
Mike Miller would be great fit for NYK short and long term if they want to resign him in 2010.

Why does NY do it?

I don't see why the Knicks would trade back

Miller does seem like a D'Antoni type of player. They would get his Bird rights in the deal. Probably a bit of a stretch still, but not unfathomable.

Man this is a great deal. Funny thing is. Hughes would prolly put up better stats than Miller on our team if we promised him a starting spots, which is likely what would happen. I'm sold.
We could get Two of Harden/Evans/Derozan. I'd risk it on Evans if I get one of the other guys...

I wouldn't mind a Hughes/Harden backcourt.
As a longtime Hughes fan I love this trade.

I don't think we need to exchange Hughes' attitude for two guys that really want to be here. I also think he's more likely to hurt thedevelopment of our players than help them.
I like that this doesn't hurt our free agency, but I don't see a great gap between #18 and #8 .. they all seem like questionable projects in this draft.
I agree Mike Miller would be fantastic fit with D'Antoni. I wouldn't hate it, and it fits many of my guidelines for a Wolves deal, but I'm iffy on whether this really helps the team in the long-run. Maybe I just have too much of a stereo-typed view of Hughes.

I'm not that high on Hughes either, but I wanted to find something where we could consolidate our expirings, and simultaneously move up. This one made the most sense to me...
I don't think Hughes is a bad guy, just seems to not quite fit wherever he's been. A 1 year flyer with him wouldn't hurt, and I don't think he's the type to "poison" young talent...

We could always make the trade, then send Hughes home until the deadline, then move him again for more value.
