Would you be happier with pick 2 than pick 1?

Post#1 » by Metin91 » Tue May 19, 2009 7:47 am

I for 1 would be as i feel pg is our main concern, we cannot be a legitimate contender with bassy running the point. if we do get pick 1 i feel we will have to select griffin but what would we do with him. Whereas rubio would be a unanimous pick 2 and the easiest choice as it fills our biggest need therefore i would be happier with pick 2 rather than pick 1

on ESPN today it said that of all the teams, Wolves have the trickiest situation if we land the top pick. Griffin is the best player in the draft, but obviously doesn't fit a team need. I'd much rather have the 1st pick either way, because if we want Rubio we can just trade down for him :-)

I'm not sure...I definitely wouldn't be LESS happy with no. 2 than no. 1. I know that much...no. 2 makes it so much easier for us. I just want Ricky Rubio so bad...

I don't mind any pick as long as we manage to end up with Rubio in our roster

I want the #1 more than anyone here.

#1 means "Trade Scenario Heaven"

#2 means, "shut up and just wait for the draft."

Giving Shrink the #1 pick is like giving a junkie a big bag of smack?

I want the number #1 pick and I want to then trade Love and some filler to whoever has the #2 pick for Rubio.

Ok, now I'm pretty positive you work with me. :-)

As far as the pick, I'd much prefer to get #1 and then as mentioned move Love and parts for #2. Maybe we could get lucky and either OKC or Washington could get #2, teams that need a PF/SG and not so much a PG.

Love and Miller for #2 and some other piece? Jeff Green's probably too much from OKC. Blatche and Thomas from the Wiz?

Random thoughts, probably poor ones, I don't know.

I'd rather have #3.

You have the 24th pick, and don't have the option to win the #3 pick. I can't see even Stern rigging it that bad.

I wouldn't mind that scenario. My life has been consumed by MN sports lately. With the Favre saga going to last until August, I don't have time to speculate trade scenarios.

We won't be happy either way it seems. Rubio fills a need while Griffin is the unanimous number one pick.

With our luck recently (penn), I wouldn't be surprised if 3 teams lower than us got the top 3 picks and we dropped to #8.

Bottom line, unless we think Jennings is an answer, if we don't get in the top 4, then we will miss out on all the impact players (Griffin, Rubio, Harden, Thabeet). The rest have huge questions marks (including Thabeet) or are redundant with what we currently have. Evans, Derozan, Jennings, Teague, Clark...nothing to get too excited about. I actually think Lawson is #5 on my draft wish list.

That being said, I would prefer pick #1 and we can work something out. I personally think Griffin may have the ability to play some SF, but if not, teams would love to get their hands on him. Perhaps we send him to memphis for Gasol and their pick. To Seattle ..oops okc for Green and their pick. Too washington for McGee, their pick and perhaps more. To New jersey for Lopez and their pick. I would hate to trade Love at this point...I am actually more okay with trading Big Al...but Griffin would easily bring back the most value.

I change me answer, just give me #2 and we take Rubio and run...much simpler.

I don't understand why any fan wouldn't want the number one pick - or really why anyone wouldn't want it. The wolves need help at every position, their best player is a borderline all-star (well, perhaps he'll make the all-star team one day), from there it gets progressively worse. Just take the best player available at every draft position and hope someone pans out.

You always want the highest pick possible, yes, even with the thought that we could still find a way to blow it somehow lol.

Okay, so let's say we DO end up with the #1 pick. Which team would you want to get the #2 pick to work a trade with? Obviously, OKC would be a top choice. Do you think they'd do something like Jeff Green + #2 for #1? Are there any other teams that might be willing to give up the #2 + something better that would work out in the Wolves favor?
