Various Mock Drafts

Chad Ford: Derozan/Mullens/Mills
Comments: He has Lawson falling to 22. I like Mullens, but there is no way that with our need for a PG we pass on Lawson at 18 and settle for Mills. Mills seems like a Telfair clone to me, being undersized and sporting a .407 fg % against weak competition. My picks would be Derozan/Lawson/BPA.
DX: Harden/Holliday/Collison
Comments: I would be happy with this. Drafting Collison would probably just piss Holiday off though, so I might choose the next BPA, perhaps Dajuan Summers with the # 28 pick.
Draft.net: Derozan/Mills/Williams
Comments: Mills at 18 is a joke in my opinion. Williams lasting to #28 also seems like a stretch. Frankly I'm not sure this site deserves to be listed anymore. I would take Holiday at 18, and still take Williams at 28 as the clear BPA.

IMO, no way the Wizards take Jordan Hill with Blache and McGee on the roster. Both of them are only marginal at 5, I think. They need a true 5, or a 1/2... Harden makes way more sense.

Could easily see the Wiz drafting Hill. Mcgee is a center and Blantch isny anything special and Jamison is gettin up there.

They also have Haywood, Songalia, and Thomas. I agree with ChazzleDazzle on this one.

Hill may be put there based on a trade possibility. Wizards are likely to move out of the spot, and DX probably considers Hill the BPA.
For example, I could see Detroit moving Hamilton for the #5 and the expiring contracts of Thomas and James. Flip coached Hamilton a year ago. That saves the Wiz somewhere near $5 million next year. Makes sense to me.
Arenas/Hamilton/Butler/Jamison/Haywood might be the second best team in East.

I feel it will go like this..
Clippers - Griffin (No brainer)
Grizzlies - Rubio (depending on their thoughts about conley, I could see a trade to Sacramento)
Thunder - Harden (no way they pass on a perfect sg to team with Westbrook)
Kings - Jennings (barring a trade to get Rubio, this makes the most sense looking at their roster)
Wizards - Thabeet (Harden would have been perfect. Easily may tray out of this spot)
Wolves - We are in an interesting spot. I think the top 5 is set and don't see anyone else crackin' it. So we get our pick of the litter (albeit second tier). This will be what we debate about for the next month or so.

Griff and Rubio @ #1 & #2 is close to set. The #3 pick is where the questions start. Not every team is convinced Harden is the third best player available. A few Thunder fans prefer Harden but surprisingly more prefer Thabeet. Plus if they do decide to go with a guard, Evans and DeRozan will be in the discussion too.

I agree, I think the Wiz will trade down. Hill also seems to be the BPA to some people. Big men with upside typically don't last too long on draft day. Of course not everyone agrees with his upside.
DX also has us landing Jrue Holiday at #18. If we somehow land Harden and Holiday, I would be very, very happy. Holiday-Harden-Brewer could hopefully give us some quality perimeter defensive play to make up for the defensive black hole of our front court that is Love-Jefferson.

why's that ??? maybe you should see what mills done at the olympics and in some ofthe earlier matches against usa and say that
he was australia's leading scoring at the olympics too which is huge for a 18 year old
Mills is proven against nba players to so imo he will be ready
and telfair and Mills are nothing alike ,Mills plays more like tony parker
and btw im a nc fan so im a huge lawson fan and believe mills and lawson are about the same

seems because that means you have not actully seen Mills play, because anyone who had would not say he reminds them of Telfair. Very different players...

I'm not suprised with the Thunder fans preferring Thabeet. They are pretty happy with Thabo's job at SG and they are very thin upfront.
Chad Ford: Derozan/Mullens/Mills
-I don't pass on Lawson if he's there at #18, but I actually like Mills more than most.
DX: Harden/Holliday/Collison
-Don't really want Collison after we draft a PG, but like the first two picks. I'm actually starting to like Holliday a lot.
Draft.net: Derozan/Mills/Williams
-Dr. K's DeRozen/Holliday/WIlliams sounds about as perfect as we could get.

This is true. I don't get a lot of St. Mary's Games on the ESPN. But what's up with his .407 FG% against weak competition?
DX-
• Patrick Mills had the lowest logged shooting percentage at 36%, and the fact that he took 3.3 contested looks from the outside per game (1st) may have played a role in that. All the three pointers Mills attempted certainly didn’t help his efficiency on the college level. For as fast as Mills is, he got to the rim at an average rate and really struggled to convert once there. He also ranked last for the percentage of possessions he was fouled on—just 5%.
Sounds a lot like Telfair to me.

The thing that bugged me was watching ESPN this morning and whatever clown they had on had MN drafting Hill. Seriously, another PF?!?!? I shut off the TV right there. Unless we have a trade lined up and signed off on, I could not possibly stomach a drafting of another PF.
Otherwise, Thabeet if he drops is by far my choice. Jennings, Evans, Derozan, Harden all have significant question marks, but I probably like them in that order. Drafting Jennings means we should trade Foye though, drafting Evans wouldn't.

If we drafted him, he would immediately be traded on draft day.

the difference is mills can be clutch most times, hes the type of player who steps up in tight games and can win you it
the reason why he hes f/g% is low was cause he settle for too many outside jumpers but he does have nba 3 range ,but if you take away the 3 from hes game hes % would be a lot better
the only thing that i can compare telfair with mills is hes speed but i think mills is faster and he actually suits nba style more than he does in the college system
Mills defense is underrated to i remember he had a match here in aus a few years ago well he completely shut down someone older than him and than drew 3 charges
ive watched nearly every mills game this year since espn have a contract here with them to show nearly every game thats how highly mills is rated in aus

There are two things that compare Mills to Telfair.
1). They are both fast with the ball in hands.
2). Both take horrible shots.
The main differences though are startling. Mills is a much better scorer close to the basket. He has great body control and is able to weave between the bigger bodies, much like Tony Parker he also is able to slow down when he jumps which hopefully means he will be able to develop that ter drop floater like Parker one day. In fact if a comparison was to be made Parker would be the player I choose. {Quick edit: Not saying Mills will be as good as Parker, just saying at same age the comparisons are there}
Mills also plays solid defense, he will be outmanned in the NBA against the bigger point guards like Kidd, Miller, Williams, but against the Pauls and Nelsons he will not be a negative unlike telfair.
He actually has a good shooting form and I think you will see him jump up the draft board when individual tryouts start and he proves he can regularly drop in the 18 footer when left open. His low shooting percentage comes from the fact he tends to look off his shot and try to get closer to the rim. normally being closer helps but in Mills case he normally drives into traffic for his shot instead of taking the open one he first had.
All said, If we take Mills at #18 I would be fine with the decision, I think there will still be better talent there but I dont think its a stretch to see him that high (as I think workouts will help him out huge)
If he is there at #28 then I say we take him, but I expect him to be gone from there unless injury/personal crisis strikes.
I expect Mills to go anywhere from #15-25 in this draft.

Best case scenario (realistically) for this draft might be Kings taking Jennings, and the Wizards taking Hill. That way we could take Harden, and then if Holiday is there at 18 grab him too. Another scenario is trading for the Wiz pick, hoping kings take jennings, then taking harden/derozen.
