They have to overpay in those deals. Those are the parts where MN is providing value to other teams. Otherwise theres no point in trading down for MEM & SAC. In terms of actual cost to MN in player talent it is trivial.

I think all those deals are ones the other team would have difficulty declining.

For #1, I'd demand Boone and not the troubled SWAT.

For #2, a SAC fan suggested 4 + 23 + 31 for 6 + 18 + 28.

Now I understand that for SAC, the guy they want at 4 is probably at 6 too, and he values the 18 because he feels its at the tail end of the clump of OK prospects (I feel that way too). But I'd jump on this in a second. I think #31 > #28.

For #3, it seems like we can make a competitive offer around Miller and 2009 cap space to get the #5, since they want to sell it. I've made some others, and I'd prefer to not take back Deshawn Stevenson's second year and eat the 2010 raw cap space, but it'd be hard to say no too.

For #4, I think that Rubio for #4 and #5 would probably be MEM's best offer. tossing in the #23 is superfluous.

However, would I trade all those pieces to get Rubio? Probably. We need star-level talent.

(ps - if you need another piece, I think NOH's #21 could be easily bought for $3 mil and our two 2nds.)

Has NJ indicated a willingness to trade down? I would use that pick to target Gerald Henderson or Terrence Williams though. After the deal goes through I would try to do back flips after hanging up the phone and fracture multiple bones in my body and end up in the hospital AND I WOULD LIKE IT.


with picks 5, 6 & 11 my thinking would be to target the following chaps:

5: Harden?, Evans?, Holliday, DeRozan
6: Harden?, Evans?, Holliday, DeRozan, Williams, Henderson
11: Williams, Henderson, Maynor, Lawson

SWAT is the better fit for MN regardless of his troubles.

For SAC it's hard to say. They could in theory deal directly with MEM for an easy swap, but here they get more value to fill out their roster.

Perhaps avoiding stevenson would be appealing, but taken as a whole trade it isn't that damaging.

You are probably correct on this.

I for one would prefer 5,6, 11.
