GSW - MN - TOR

GSW IN: Cardinal
GSW OUT: Crawford

MN IN: Crawford, #9
MN OUT: Foye, Cardinal

TOR IN: Foye
TOR OUT: #9

J2J actually made me think of this approach and I actually like it. I think the extra money we pay for Crawford in 2010 is less than Foye's cap hold. even if MN resigns Foye ~@6m/yr this only eats up ~4m in cap space. Crawford gives the wolves a similar type of player, only crawford is capable of going for 50 and can guard 2's and play 1-3. We gain a vet which the FO wants, and cash in Foye for a pick.

MN can then swing away freely for a PG @6 or @9.

(#6)\Crawford\Bassy
Crawford\Miller\(#9)
Miller\Gomes\Brewer
Love\Smith
Al\(#18)

If Harden drops to 6, then yeah, this would be great. I don't think Evans or Derozan would fit well with Crawford. He is basically an older Evans.

This one is tough, because we give up on Foye who has a lot of heart, good work ethic, and is a good guy (albeit inconsistent at shooting). Crawford seems to have a more difficult personality and is older. Additionally, I think it should be Foye for #9 + POB + other filler.

I would rather just swing Foye for 9+small waived filler. Crawford has a nice skill set but a nasty, nasty contract and tends to not be a winner.

I've always been a fan of Crawford, but he's just too expensive and not worth the raw cap space we'd have next summer. I'm ambivalent to #9 for Foye -- I'd probably lean Foye's way

I like Crawford, but the contract doesn't thrill me. I see some potential to this idea, but I would think that we should be able to get more from Golden State for taking on Crawford. Not sure what would be fair value there as #7 would likely be too much, even if we threw back 18 and 28. Maybe a lottery protected 1st in 2011? Randolph?

I'd only remotely consider this if DeRozan or Evans were available at #9, which I don't see happening. And since this is not a three way deal I'd just completely cancel the Crawford one. He has negative value IMO.

Crawfords contract isn't bad at all relative to his production.

Craw
$9,360,000 $10,080,000

Foye
$3,575,761 $4,795,096

Extended Foye??
$$$$$ $6m?

Foye Cap Hold?
$$$$$ $12m?

It takes maybe 6m away in cap space and MN has more than enough extra space to facilitate that. Also provides a bunch of possibilities with the lineup even if Miller isnt dealt.

Regarding Crawford's contract, let me say this:

If you were offering an expiring and a $2.6 TPE to GSW fans for Crawford, they'd be willing to toss in some value.

No deal because we get Crawford.
