Complex trade involving 3 of the worst/unproven front office. Interesting. It fits with the vision I see us moving towards.

MIN and MIL are very good trading partners, and I think I had seen virtually every possible trade between them, but I'm not sure I've ever seen this. Its rare to see a team trade a productive vet star along with a pick. Generally a team is either gaining talent or gaining youth, but MIL's goal is to gain cap space to gain youth. I'm sure they would prefer not to trade the #10, but its a very useful way to add value (to get more financial savings), and not have to salary-match the value of the asset. In addition, it removes the cap hold that pick would have.

I'm not thrilled by the prospect of using up $15 mil of my .. I mean "our" .. I mean "Taylor's" precious 2010 cap space on Richard Jefferson, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. He is certainly a very good player, and he helps defensively, and he fits.

I wonder if we removed Brown and the #18 whether MIL would be interested. Removing Brown's salary is raw 2009 cap space for them ($2.31 mil total), which they'd love to get to keep Sessions. The #18 is less valuable to them because it puts back a cap hold they got out from under with the #10. Another alternative would be to expand the deal and their TPE with Ridnour and Telfair.

If we really wanted to rock their world, we could do this:

Jefferson + Redd + #10 for Mike Miller + Gomes + Craig Smith + Cardinal + Madsen + $7.5 mil TPE

That would probably allow them to keep Sessions AND Villanueva. To be honest, it seems light on the MIL part -- perhaps some future lottery protected 1st, or a few 2nds should be included. It helps our roster clutter too, but these stars have 2-year deals, so their $33 mil comes off the books in 2011. I wouldn't advocate it, but it might be worth delaying our big ourchase a year just to reclaim some fans.

Not sure who team 4 is, but they got a pretty sweet deal.

And did you just go Pokemon on us? The only way we can go Pokemon is if we get Gay. ;-)

I'm all for trading Cardinal away twice.

But out of the wings that I'd be interested in us getting (Joe Johnson, Jefferson, Butler, Granger, Iguodala, Prince, G.Wallace, Lewis) the only two I'd be willing to give up BOTH Love and the #6 would be Granger (who I think is a very very long shot) and Butler...

Jefferson is at the bottom of my list.

Geez. Ignore me. I somehow missed the fact that we also get Rubio and Thabeet.

Wait, we can do that? Sweet, let's package him with KG and bring in a top level wing. I like it.

The deal looks a little light in what is going to Memphis unless I missed something. MN would probably have to throw more value their direction regardless of how well Love fits there.

My thoughts are that the #2 > Love and then Memphis has to throw in a late 1st rounder as well. I don't see them doing this without more.

EDIT: Maybe #18 has to be swung to Memphis?

I like the idea a lot. I think Memphis could keep #27, maybe have us swing them #28 instead and team 4 gets 6 and 10 for Thabeet, which is still a good deal. Of course #28 might be a little more appealing for us to keep even with two rookies already if we're doing a 7 for 3 swap as that player might be a better bench option than going FA route. I think Shelden would likely be re-signed as we'd be less deep upfront.

I think we need to focus on PG's who at least have the potential to play good man D.

MN + Rubio = Phoenix Suns lite

Rubio has more value. If we could trade love for the Rubio pick we would do it in a second and send our left one just as a blessing.

If this trade was realistic and Thabeet somehow lasts to 6, then we could trade him for something like 7 and 10? Let's just do that since it would be a steal.

I was thinking the 4 team trade would make us Detroit Pistons lite (the Ben Wallace Pistons...not the Allen Iverson Pistons).

I thought about it, and there are certain parts that I should add on. It is possible in this scenario that we can end up with Harden instead (granted OKC keeps Thabeet).

I think it seems more likely that we would have to trade with Sacramento. Rumor has it they really want a point guard, but why draft one when they can trade down to get their desired player, so we very well can end up with Harden in this case.

I'm not sure if Milwaukee would agree to this deal, if they can stay healthy they will more than likely make the playoffs, but on the flip side they may be able to keep CV and Sessions.
