T-Wolves/Wizards
Washington Wizards trade; Mike James, DeShawn Stevenson, and #5 pick
Minnesota Timberwolves trade; Mike Miller, and #18 pick
Wizards get starting SG with range (less defense though, but capable). Wizards also get a little cap space. Wizards select BPA with #18 pick.
T-Wolves get a huge chip to trade with. Having the 5th and 6th pick, expiring contracts, and youth, T-Wolves can go in a number of directions to improve this roster in a hurry.

Sounds possible. Having Mike James back might give me post-traumatic flashbacks though.

I like it.
Was would profit, too. Miller is a nice vet to have and would underline their playoff ambitions.

I couldn't say no either, but there are better ways to do this deal for both teams, with WAS taking back less, but getting a bigger and bigger TPE.
And I think that a trade like this begs for another TPE-producing trade with MIL for Ridnour and the #10.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
imo that #5 pick is a must-have to ensure we get one of thabeet/harden/evans/rubio. If Wash is shopping it for cap relief and a drop-down, Wolves should strike

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
So if we were able to make a trade with the Wizards and assuming the Oklahomo's draft Harden at #3, who would we take at 5/6? Also looking at the measurements, Evans is the same size as Harden. I'm not sure why Evans couldn't be a slightly undersized two as well. He would have an athleticism and wingspan edge on Harden.
Evans/Holliday?
Evans/DeRozan?
Evans/Curry?
Evans/Jennings?
DeRozan/Holliday?
Who would you take?

Evans/Curry intrigues me greatly. Never really wanted him (Curry) that high, but with Evans coming with him, I can't help but like having that trio of Foye/Curry/Evans

I was thinking about that too. Curry hasn't been on my radar much but if we could pair him with Evans, it seems like they might compliment each other well.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
How are they possibly undersized?
Evans and Harden are both 6'5'' 220 lbs, with 6'11' wingspans. They are plenty large for the 2 spot.

Very much this. I have been big on an Evans/Curry backcourt.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
I'm not drinking the curry kool-aid. small school, small arms, ball dominator, average athleticism.
I have a feeling he is the player this year that teams are "leaking" they like in hopes someone they want more drops. Ironically the player I see him as most similar to both in build and game is randy foye. how'd that one work out for us? We could go back to stacking undersized combo guards like we were a couple years ago.
If the brass feel tyreke evans can really play PG (and keep in mind our system doesn't call for a ball-dominating deron williams or cp3 type because it involves little pick and roll offense and is centered around jefferson), He is head and shoulders above everyone else who will probably be available there. It is long past time we had a player who can physically outsize and outmuscle his opponent every single night.
If this scenario played out I would draft evans and thabeet, with derozan my 3rd choice, because then we could have TWO players who vastly outsize their opponents. Look at the lakers, they are bigger at SG, PF, and C every night, and at SF if they play odom there. The magic with turkoglu, pietrus, and howard. the cavs with lebron and big z. the c's with KG and rondo's freakish wingspan. Then look at us. undersized and/or unathletic at every position.
I like your trade. I would point out 2 things:
1. James's player option makes a draft night trade tricky because he cannot be traded until he excercises his option. This also gives him leverage in a trade-and-buyout.
2. Next year's Utah pick may hold more value for Washington because it allows them to avoid a guaranteed deal on the 2009 year, which has 76 million in guaranteed salary already before adding a draft pick. There is the possibility to draft-and-stash a euro, but there isn't really one who would be good value in that pick range.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
If washington is serious they could start a bidding war.
OKC and Memphis both could use 2 players this year and have lots of cap room.
Neither can offer a veteran who is as good a fit as miller though.
I'm preparing for the usual draft-day disappointment, this time with OKC swooping in and landing thabeet and harden at 3 and 5 and sacto taking evans at 4.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
In your situation is Thebeast falling? A Holiday/Thabeast draft would be nice.
Bigger question is if we would gamble and take a Clark+Holiday perhaps if we got the 2 picks?

1. Holliday
2. Thabeet
3. DeRozan
so it would depend on who else is gone

Foye is much stronger, and more athletic. Curry is a stick.
Zach Randolph>Frye. Kevin Durant > Oden. Random guy off street> Pritchard.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
Hypothetical scenario:
Griffin, Rubio, Thabeet and Harden are taken in the top 4. Hill and Evans appear to be the next two best players on the draft board. Neither Washington nor Minnesota are particularly interested in Hill since we both have considerable depth at PF.
What would Minnesota give up to trade up from #6 to #5 to ensure that they get Evans? Anything? Or if Evans is gone by #6, will they just take a PG like Flynn or Holiday and be done with it?
Under my hypothetical, would Minnesota trade #6 + Mike Miller for #5 + #32 + Etan + Pecherov? You lose Miller for a season but you don't take on any long term salary.
