Mullens - guarentee

If available, Mullens will be the Wolves pick at #18. No question.

He may not be the most suave at this time, but his size, speed, & athleticism are amazing. He can drop-step & dunk as well as complete a one-dribble reverse layup/dunk with ease. Good for now. He was not a very skilled defender early his freshmen year ay Ohio State, but did develop as the season progressed. I assume he also took time to adjust to the of faster speed of play.

Right now, I'm pretty confident we will draft:
#6: Holiday ... Evans or Curry are darkhorses for several teams including MN.
#18: Mullens

Evans has the NBA body ... Curry has the NBA IQ.

I think he will either pull a DeAndre Jordan (where I hope we just use #28 on him) or he will be picked well before our selection at #18.

I agree though. If we could get Evans or Holiday, Mullens or Daye, and get Gortat in the offseason. I would be a happy boy.

Jefferson - Gortat - Mullens
Love - Smith
Brewer - Gomes
Foye - Miller
Evans - Foye - Telfair

Good possibility, I think we still will probably trade up though

I know you said if available, but just wanted to post this (but of course it is way too soon to tell).

The FO better pay attention if teams like the Thunder are trying to get the DET pick.

It will be bad enough if the Thunder take Harden at #3 let alone getting Mullens ahead of us.

OKC may be after Mullens since they will take harden and be passing on Thabeet. They really want a young big man, however, Mullens may be a little raw for them at this stage. Regardless, I'm starting to see Thabeet falling to #6.

Not a bad thing.

If Thabeet falls to #6 we have to take him, hope that he develops into a poor man's Dikembe Mutombo and it will be fine. We should look to make another deal then to add Rubio, Jennings, Harden, Evans, DeRozan or Curry then or add a young promising guard by trade. We are in a good position to deal with the wizards. A deal based around Mike Miller might work out.
Don't get me wrong. I don't love Thabeet and think he might easily be a bust but at #6 you have to take him. I certainly would not trade up for him.

If Thabeet develops well a front court around him, Jefferson and Love would be scary. :o

I think you have to take that kind of proven production/size/athleticism at #6 too rather than reach on a guard a few spots.

I will bet my modship that Mullens is not our pick at 18. Off the record I got some info and he is not someone we like.

I'm not a big fan of Mullens either but @18 he seems like the best option.

In the last DX podcast, JG said Mullens looks great in drills but when you put other players on the court, whether 2 on 2 or 5 on 5, he just doesn't get it. He said Mullens was absolutely destroyed by Neville (who'll probably go undrafted) in his workout here and one GM told him Mullens performed so badly he was crying the locker room (that might be hyperbole though).

I also remember reading that after interviews at the combine one GM said Mullens is a guy with physical talent but will never ever "get it." At the time I thought it was just posturing but after his workout here, he very well may be the Gerald Green of centers.

If thats the case then he will have a hard time in the nba. I do think that he should stay in college for another year anyway.

You'd give up your place in the stratosphere? You risk too much! You have no idea how awful it is for us regular posters that don't get "off the record info"...

You do realize you don't have a place to go "on the record" about something, right?

I don't care for the drafting of Mullens either.

I personally think the mind set that its ok to gamble if you've got multiple picks is dumb, you always try and use every available asset for the best value.

This is the same type of thinking i'm so against in the Hinrich thread. You don't purposely take a lesser asset.

Watters, I have a couple contacts that I have either meet here or in other places. If I gave up the modship I would likely quit realgm.

Off the record because I was told not to share details.

Taking Mullens wouldn't be purposely taking a lesser asset, it would be taking an asset with a bigger upside. Even with a bad workout, Mullens has plenty of value at 18.

Maybe a lil off topic....Rev has a very level head even with those he disagrees with. He also is friendly with everyone, so there are people that respect that quality and share info with him. I have to my memory never seen the Rev run anyones character down.

My take with this Mullens kid is that we already have PF's who can perform, but we need a prospective player who is willing and able to develop a role at the center position. You have to look 2-3 years up the road and estimate his potential to basically run the floor, rebound, and block shots.

Mullens along with the European center we draft last year (Pevolic?) ... now you have two legit 7' centers and two legit PF's.

Remember Joel Pryzbilla and how he struggled at first? Same type of player as Joel, but Joel was actually drafted in the top 10. He has develop into a decent role player and would fit in MN right now. Mullens will be the same type project ... with more athleticism. Cheap, good size, athleticism, and a significant role.

Watters, I think you need to chill out bro, and show some respect to rev'. You may not agree with what he has to say but this "I'm holier than thou because I write articles" is lame and gets old in the Media world FAST. Also take into account that if it weren't for DX (where let's be real, doug and JG have been reaping the most rewards), you'd likely be struggling somewhere on a College Sports Radio show trying to get an internship to some local backwater Florida satellite station (in which you'd be researching facts until carpel set in, and fetching the host's coffee).

Yes you've written some good articles, but so have a lot of people, and a lot of bigger people than you. And many of them don't go around boasting of 'ish. Matter-a-fact, the best people out there in the Sports world are actually pretty humble about their work (except when Contract talk time comes around of course  ).

Now you've been here a long time JW, and been through a lot of RGM changes, but no need to act like a complete douche. Especially when a few article here and there and a lack of a Career so far hasn't entitled you to squat. Any of the greats so you act like this bro, and they'd toss your ass to the curb.

The only reason I'm saying all of this is because I've been silently seeing you treat not just rev', but a lot of the Minny posters like crap with your spiel (and I've seen you do this in the past with other high Lotto Teams too when they didn't agree with who you think they should select).

[/Rant]

Don't blame JW, it's like a puppy peeing on the rug, you can't really get mad. Look at that cute wet little nose!
