What roster do you want to see next year?

Post#1 » by Danimals » Mon Jun 8, 2009 8:17 pm

I'd like to see a roster something like this next year:

PG- Hinrich/Curry/?
SG- Miller/Harden/Brewer
SF- Brewer/Miller/Gomes
PF- Love/Jefferson/Gomes
C- Jefferson/?/Love

The ?s would have to be filled with cheap veterans to mentor and take up a few minutes.
Steph Curry—————Ricky
Michael Jordan———Ant
Lebron James————KG
Kevin Garnett————Love
Nikola Jokic—————KAT

PG-Holiday/Bassy/Vet
SG-Foye/Henderson
SF-Brewer/Miller/Gomes
PF-Love/Gomes/Smith
C- Jefferson/Vet

And you ask where will the points come from. Well that's up to the coaches to put the players in a position to excel. I can see 15 from PG's p/g 20 from SG's p/g 15 from SF's p/g 15 from PF's p/g and 25 from C's p/g = 90 points per game. I'm sure they can find another 10 somewhere.

Personally I would trade (in this order) Foye, Miller, Gomes, & Smith. Bassy too, but her ain't worth much.

#3(harden) pekovic rights + #6 for 3
#8(skinnycurry) Cardinal Gomes Madsen Smith for Mobley + fatCurry + 8
#18 Clark
#28 Beabouis
(maybe some asset combo for Crash, miller, mobley, foye, haven't figured it out yet)

skinnyCurry\Foye\Beaboius\Bassy
Harden\Brewer\Beaboius
Miller\clark\brewer
love\clark
al\fatCurry

my team rocks? Still have miller, mobley, foye, and utah pick to play around with as well. Mobley + foye for crash saves CHA big monies!

Trade Foye for another top 10 pick, like toronto. Pick Curry, Derozan, and Mullens at 18

Curry/Telfair
Miller/Derozan
Brewer/Gomes
Love/Smith
Jefferson/Mullens

Too many variables to name actual players. So I will give a check list.

--I want an answer at pg. Whether this is a rookie, a vet, or somehow Foye gets it (have not lost all hope, but I doubt it) We need an answer at pg that can make the position stable for 5 years.

--A swing player that can get double dig pts and push Gomes to the bench. Taking heat of Al, but also strengthening our bench with Gomes.

--Give Foye a role and let him play within it. Whether that is a sg, 6th man, scoring-pg. I do not care, but the kid is almost on his last leg to prove he can be a valuable player and giving him a sure role will help. Stability can be a kind guide.

--Put a team on the court that takes advantage of the simple offensive tools we have (p/r love--post Al) and actually tries on defensive. Our defensive cohesiveness was pathetic last year. This is a big shot against Mchale.

1. New starting pg
2. defensive center for spot minutes 15-25 a game
3. Do not draft derozan, Curry, or Evans or Holiday at 6, HOPE and hope alot that Harden or THabeast fall into our laps.
4. Bring in a legit coach with a great NBA mind all around

Just thoughts not actual trade ideas involving names. Need alot of changes I wouldnt mind seeing numerous players traded. Foye and Bassy being at the top of that list.

If we have a choice between Holiday, Harden, Evans, DeRozan, or Thabeet, and take Thabeet and keep him, I'm going to be extremely peeved. I pray he goes #2 so I can laugh at Memphis.

A coach that can evaluate & develop talent...We dont even know if Foye can cut it. Timberwolves need a mind that can see threw lots of this. Get all yhe puppies together let em play...next year a good mind will know who & where to put the superstars.

We have 3 options.

1.) Sell out with fat contracts of decent vets. aka Hinrich and Prince as an example.
2.) Wait and see---this is the worst option.
3.) Sell out in this draft. Based on need and skill-set I think we should do everything we can do add 2 of the 3 Harden/Curry/Thabeast. Add those guys to Love/Jefferson/Brewer and see what happens. We can package our 18+28+something small to move up and get Curry in the 8-12 range. We can package the expiring of Miller/Cardinal to move up for the Thabeast pick. We have multiple picks, expirings, and Pekovic to use as bait.

PG- Lawson (#18)/Telfair/Brown

Lawson will be a good point guard in the NBA, his overall package of skills and proven leadership material will help steady our ship and point us in the right direction. Telfair is the perfect change of pace point guard off the bench. Brown still has a year to run on his contract and its nice to have a third point guard in case Telfair or Lawson go down for extended period of time.

SG- Evans (#6)/Foye/Brewer

Evans is a shooting guard and nothing else. People trying to turn him into a point guard will find they have a Jamal Crawford clone. His ability to get to the rim and his size will make him dangerous in the backcourt. Foye can now become a Ben Gordon/Jason Terry type offensive spark off the bench, a role I think he will flourish in. I have Brewer here but in reality he will swing through positions 1-4 and will be used as a defensive stopper whenever an opposing player gets on a role.

SF- Miller/Gomes/Dajuan Summers (#28)

Miller was great for us last year, he might not have been the scoer we though we were getting but the guy was still one of our best players and was normally the glue guy that helped keep the offensive together. With Jefferson back and Evans coming in as a scorer we will see Miller do much the same as last year. Gomes is an 8th man and shouldn't ever start in this league. That being said he is likely one of the best 8th men in the entire league and should be able to beat up on other teams bench players. Summers will not see much playing time this year and is super raw. But with a year of practice and occasional spot minutes I think he can be a real player in 2010.

PF-Love/Smith/Cardinal/Taj Gibson (#45)

Love will continue to improve on his numbers and I expect him to post a double double season this year. Smith will continue to beat up on opposing bench players and make the most of his minimal athletic ability. Cardinal is ok, his contract sucks and you dont want him playing any more then 5-10 minutes a game but hes ok as a third PF. Gibson will likely push Cardinal out of the rotation by mid season and will be a garbage man who can infuse the team with energy for 5-10 minutes when needed.

C-Jefferson/Madsen

Jefferson is a beast and should be able to continue to dominante down low for us. Now that he has Lawson and Evans passing him the ball and demanding attention on the perimeter he should be even better then last year when fully healthy. Madsen is out of time but who knows, he can still get in there and spot Jefferson for a few minutes a game. So can Smith. Despite Jefferson's this is our weakest position.

Overseas Rights:

Pekovic: Should be over next season and will really help round the roster out by becoming a backup centre.

Slava Kravtsov (#47): A big man who wont be over for a few years, if at all.

What roster for next year?

1.) Jefferson, Love, and Brewer are the 3 current players I'm willing to ride it out with.

2.) MUST add a defensive-minded Center. Unsure who in the draft outside of Mullins or the Aussie from Utah.

3.) Add a legit PG that can run the team. Appears to be a crap-shoot in the draft. We need to stay focused on who the best PG will be 2-3 years from now. I'd be much more confident with us going after Holiday if he had ALWAYS been THE PG. I expect to trade down, get a veteran PG, and pick a PG mid-round.

Foye and Gomes are reserves - both have game-speed issues. Like Miller for the MLE. Telfair is a 3rd PG. Smith is a opposite type player we need (via height). Carney has speed and it might give him a job somewhere. Cardinal is a gamer, but $$. Williams is a lost boy.

Mullens is far from defensive minded. anything "minded" is the wrong term for him. I just hope the coaches teach him how to tie his shoes and read.
