That's definitely intriguing. I wonder if OKC goes for that.

Who do we take at #3 that would be worth the downgrade. Thabeet? No thank you. Harden? I suppose but that doesnt solve our PG issues and we just traded big for small, making things worse for Al when he gets back.

I dont understand why people are so quick to push Love out the door. Really, the only way i trade Love is for the #2 pick and a guarantee that Rubio will play here or in a larger scale deal for a young stud that no longer fits on his team.

I would, but I am higher on Thabeet for this team than most. At #3 you are assured Rubio or Thabeet so a win win in my book. Many won't due to only wanting Rubio, but with Green's ability to play the 3 and fill in at the 4 and having a true center that would most likely work with Jefferson and Pekovich, I would be all for it if Thabeet was at #3.

It is tough though. Love has really grown on me as a player. Great hustle, great work ethic, smart, good for team chemistry. Hard not to like Love and harder to trade him away, but I think you have to in this deal.

I protest, but I do it. Typically the trades I complain about but then do are the ones that will help us the best in the longrun. With this scenario we can use the 3rd pick on either Thabeast/Rubio/Harden.

Good, simple, trade.

Green>Love. I'd do it easily.

EDIT: I think Love has more value than Green so I wouldn't trade them strait up, but I think Green fits much better here and would be a great SF option who has a good attitude and work ethic. We are guaranteed Thabeet or Rubio, I think it makes a lot of sense. A Green/Big Al/Thabeet frontcourt would be amazing.

Well, from how it sounds, there's a shot that Rubio lasts until 3. If so, I'd think about this, but I like Green at SF quite a bit (and he can obviously play some PF too). I definitely wouldn't want to do this and take Thabeet, that would be brutal.

So I guess it's do you like Green/Rubio or Green/Harden better than Love/Evans, Love/Holiday, etc?

I think I'd be good with either scenario with Green. Even if we miss Rubio, we can pick up a talented point guard with the 18(or trade up).

No Way would I do that trade.
1. Love is going to be a boring STUD
2. Brewing will be playing the 3
3. We will get our PG at 6 (Holiday or Evans)
4. we will (should is a better word) be trading Foye and a pick to get another top 10 pick anyways. (hopefully Henderson)

If we trade anybody up front it will be Big Al. I can see Al in a Cavs Jersey (great contract to go with LBJ). It would have to be a three way because I don't like anybody on the Cavs roster.

Foye is undersized at the 2 and will never be an above average 1. He also seems a little slow, all around.

And if anybody thinks that 5 from Uconn is going to be anything more than a giant fly swatter, please, stop dreaming.

I like Jeff Green ok, I'd probably trade the #6 alone for him because you know you're getting a pretty good player and I think there's 5 really good players in this draft, though I wouldn't be surprised one iota if there were better careers available at that point. In fact I'd be more surprised if Jeff Green has one of the top 5 best careers of the 2009 draft.

I digress. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Jeff Green is the most overrated player on RealGM bar none.

Just what I was going to say. I think there is a very real chance that Rubio's threats to stay in Europe if MEM drafts him could have an effect, and the Grizz can't afford to waste a #2 that way. If that #3 is Rubio, I think I have to do the deal. I guess the question would be, rank these combos:

Love + #6

Rubio + Green

Rubio + Gay?

I think it is worth a look.

I am not that high on Thabeet but Love + #6 for Green + #3 is a fair deal.

Once again, if Rubio wont play in Memphis or OKC for that matter, why would he be willing to come to Minnesota. I would need him to specifically say he will play for us before sending Love away.

IMO there is a big difference btwn Rubio + Green and Harden/Thabeet + Green.

The last I heard, the two reason he didn't want to play for MEM were that Spanish grizz were knocking the town, and because he wanted to have the ball in his hands, and Mayo prevented this. This seems to make sense because he also mentioned he didn't want to go to OKC (and Westbrook).

He's a star already in the Euroleagues, and he wants to come to the NBA for opportunity. Well, MIN is loaded with opportunity for a ball-dominant point guard. Too bad SAC is too.

I agree with you about wanting that guarantee before the trade though.

Thanks for clarifying that. I had just assumed that he didnt want to go to a smaller market team, but now that you mention it, those teams already have ball dominant guards. Still im skeptical and would like him to speak on it, but of course he wont.

could just be a convenient excuse not to play in OKC or Memphis, that's probably most likely.

I'm voting based on what will be better for the team in the long run.

1. Rubio/Green
2. Love/#6
3. Rubio/Gay

Rubio's arguably the only player left in the draft who can become a franchise player and fills an immediate plus Green would be a huge upgrade at SF. The problem with the second option is there won't be too much left with #6 (Harden, Thabeet, Griffin, and Rubio will be gone). Gay's a great athlete, but I think he's overrated, won't fit with the team, and he will have to be resigned soon...meh, so I placed them third.

I'm beginning to think Rubio won't stay an extra year regardless of where he's drafted. I can only assume he's so upset over the contract situation he will leave. I wish he'd stay for one year and play in Minnesota in 2010, oh well I can dream.

btw I just added a poll

It seems to be MN Vs. SAC in the Rubio sweepstakes ... I hope he's worth it the risk. I've been assuming this is the guy the Wolves have been watching the past year (could be Jennings as well). I recall them keeping tabs on one particular guard over sees, and find it interesting that we may be staying on top of more European players than previous years.

Memphis and OKC are both in good positions to trade down with either team. I'm not sure we have anything special other than multiple draft picks. If one of those teams has interest in #6 and #18, we may be in business.

If Thabeet is going to fall to #6, we may hang tight ... he really is a 5-10 pick. The Wolves have the most significant need in the top 6, but he's really a stick.

I do not think we are in the running for Rubio. If Memphis/okc do not think they can bring him in, they will trade the pick.

I think it's pretty safe we're interested in Rubio, but I'm certain we're going at it in a very cautious manner.
