I had Minnesota in my mock

here are the picks
6 James Harden 6-5 222 G
18 James Johnson 6-9 257 SF
28 Ty Lawson 6-0 200 PG
45 Jermaine Taylor 6-5 210 G
47 Luke Nevill 7-2 265 C
I actually had Derrick Brown 18 but I looked at my board of Sfs wrong before I picked although I like Johnson as well. I was looking for powerful productive athletic athletes who has solid shooting % and a 7 footer who has potential to develop into a solid player.

I love Harden/Lawson/Taylor. All 3 would be sweet steals at their respective picks. James Johnson depends on the rest of the draft, but I'm starting to warm up to him more. While he projects similar to Gomes, his athleticism gives him a higher ceiling than Gomes...still don't love the idea of James Johnson, but I'm not as turned off of him as I used to be.

i hope we dont pick Nevill ,he will just get cut cause of roster places ,i'd rather him go on a side that will use hes talent so he can at least stay in the nba a few years

I don't think Harden and Lawson will fall that far.

Doubt lawson falls that far. IMO if he's on the board at @18 you pick him, esp. if harden falls to 6

Yeah, that would be a shock if Harden and Lawson fell that far.

that'd be a dream draft. Also, how come Nevill is always projected so low, not just here, but everywhere. He's huge and has some semblance of skills. Seems like somebody would want a piece of that action earlier on.

I'll bet people compare him with Luc Longley, fair or not.

Longley was a starting center on a championship team. If he was compared to Longley, he'd be a mid first round pick.

technically true, but wouldn't it be more accurate to say Luc Longley was a warm body who had the privilege to play with MJ and Pippen more than he was a starting center on a championship team.

Longley split time with 2 other centers and played maybe 25 mpg. He also put up about 9 points and 5 rebounds, despite being 7 feet tall and being constantly left open when his man would leave him to try to stop the greatest player ever. He was worse than that in the 4 years before coming to CHI. He was basically seen as a body with 6 fouls to give and was a tremendous disappointment as a 1st round pick who looked better than he was for a couple of years because he happened to play with such great teams and spectacular teammates. Your argument is like saying Robert Horry is better than Karl Malone because he has a bunch of rings and Malone doesn't.

He was a disappointment as a mid-lottery pick, if he was taken at 20 he would have been a fine pick. I'm not sure what Robert Horry and Karl Malone have to do with this. I'm just saying if Luke Nevill was guaranteed to be Luc Longley, he'd be taken in the first round.

Curry and Hill going top 5 would be fantastic. Your mock is skewed somewhat by joec320 taking Collison and Gibson in the top 25

He's way bigger than those guys though other than Luc, and I'm just saying like 25-40 range or so, not lotto pick or anything, but Jon G feels he might not even be drafted, I didn't know people were that low on him.

I think you were overvaluing the fact that Longley played on a championship team, hence the analogy between a so-so player with several rings and a great player with none. Longley wouldn't have started on many teams, the bulls were a special case that didn't need talent at center. And if the wolves took BJ Mullens at 18 this year and he turned out to be Luc Longley, he'd be a bust.

that'd be the greatest identity theft ever
"wait, thats not BJ Mullens at all..... LUC LONGLEY!?!?!"
and Luc would start cackling and throw down the smokescreen and when the smoke dissipates he's gone

I don't think so. I shouldn't have mentioned the championship thing but Longley was 20 minute per game player for 10 years and 3 different teams. That's a solid career for someone picked in the mid-to-late first round. If we picked Mullens at 18 and he turned in to Longley, it would be a solid pick.
