Minnesota Trades: Miller / Love / Smith / #6 / #28
Minnesota Receives: #2 / #5 / Rudy Gay / Etan Thomas / Andray Blatche
Washington Trades: #5 / Etan Thomas / Andray Blatche
Washington Receives: Miller / Smith / #28
Memphis Trades: #2 / Rudy Gay
Memphis Receives: Love / #6
Minnesota Selects:
Rubio #2
Thabeet #5
Johnson #18 (or best outside shooter)
Roster:
Thabeet / Thomas
Jefferson / Blatche
Gay / Gomes / Johnson
Foye / Brewer / Carney
Rubio / Telfair
#18 can be included if we feel that it favors Minnesota too much. This does mean we need to come up with extensions for both Foye and Gay next year.

The first trade is too good for the Wolves (18 won't save it). I think to get the 5th pick from Washington Stevenson or Songalia would need to be coming back with it. No way they downgrade from Blatche to Smith in the process.
I like the idea of going after Rubio tho. But only if Love isn't leaving.

I like this trade. It moves everything to a place where the assets have more value. Maybe we could use the #18 to enncourage MEM to absorb some 2009 cap space from WAS, but overall I think this is nice. Good job prefuse.

You guys don't think they would demand Stevenson or Songalia go with the 5th pick?
And to be clear, I wasn't saying it was a bad idea I just think it is too good for the Wolves.

I don't think Washington does it, Songalia or Stevenson would have to be included IMO, also they really like Blatche and he would NOT be part of the trade; it might work (still not sure for Washington) if they switch Blatche to James

I think it depends on how much salary this deal cuts from WAS now.
WAS wants to get better and to cut salary. The #5 is just not enouigh value to do both these things, and move 2010-11 salary as well. In addition, Songalia and Stevenson are useful players if the team wants to win now. I'm sure they'd like to move Etan Thomas (who doesn't get along with Haywood) to get minutes to McGee.
Wizards fans don't seem as excited about Blatche as they did before. He's still a prospect, but they've given him chances, and he hasn't really developed. Again, Javale McGee, as well as Nick Young, are the prospects they feel who will be better. I'm not saying they'd want to give him away as filler (which might be where they are on O Pech by now), but he's not the golden child he was a year ago.
I guess I'd want to see how the salary broke down for the wizards. However, if they can improve their team's chance to win now, and cut a little salary, I think they've done OK with the #5 in a questionable draft.

send thomas to memphis, jaric to minny, and stevenson to minny instead of blatche, a madsen to memphis / james to minny (for cash saving for washington) and I think It's a fairer deal for mem+was. may even have to send a pick to memphis.
Bringing in washington to a love/2 deal allows us to give the wiz about 4 mil more in capsavings, it is an interesting idea. Keep in mind if they send out more young talent with #5 the wiz are going to really p.o. their fans.
2 - rubio
gay
5 - thabeet
6 - derozan (memphis)
salary out: 18.8 - #6
miller 9.9
smith 2.7
love 3.4
madsen 2.8
salary in: 20.7 + #2, #5
jaric 7.1/7.6
stevenson 3.8/4.1
Gay 3.3/RFA
james 6.5
rubio
foye/brewer
gay
jefferson
thabeet
conley
mayo
derozan
love
gasol
arenas
miller
butler
jamison
mcgee/haywood/blatche
washington:
thomas 7.3
james 6.5
stevenson 3.8
17.6
for
miller 9.9
smith 2.7
12.6
5 mil in upfront savings, doubled to 10 for lux tax, plus about 7 mil in (doubled) savings for giving up the 5th pick. And an extra 7 mil in 2010 cap room for memphis, with the added bonus of not having to pay for extending gay.
We blow all our 2010 cap room (which shrink will hate), but damn that is a nice lineup. It would be 'oop city with rubio, gay, and thabeet.

So what makes gay better than love? right now i think they are at least equal with love having a way higher ceiling...honestly I don't see gay ever being very good on a contender...he can dunk and that is probably the only thing he can do

First, you dont know how stupid I am...
Second, I would not not trade Love and 6 for the Gay and 2. The value is probably there, but Gay is not worth the Max contract he will be asking for when his contract is up soon.

I agree. The deal blows up for me because a) Al is NOT a PF; he's a C that doesn't play defense. b) I don't want Gay; c) I want Love; d) I don't want Thabeet with a lottery pick.

The most interesting part of all these rumors is coming across homers like yourself. First it was Bulls fans with Hinrich, now some Suns fans with Amare, and also some Grizzlies fans about #2. I would say the Bulls fans were by far the worse. But if you try hard enough, you might one day be as annoying and as unrealistic as them.

Not possible, although this trade idea might be even worse than the Hinrich rumor.

its Love = 2
6 = Gay
it's an even trade if you spend the 2 on Rubio or possibly Harden. Of course then the frontcourt is shot, but Thabeet is a bad pick at 2 imo

This guy's cute. I think this falls in DSW's "puppy that peed on the carpet category". You can't get too mad cause he's so stinkin' cute.
And yes...
Love = #2
#6 = Gay
No chance I make the trade, though, unless we get a guarantee that Rubio's playing here next year. Otherwise I'd much prefer to keep Love and #6.

Yes, Thabeet makes me real nervous that high. Much less of an issue if he was projected to be drafted around #10.
If we find a reasonable way to trade up for the Rube I'd be pretty happy. We can always add some athleticism via trades this summer - even if we burn our other two draft picks going after Rubio.
Just adding the Rube ... Rubio/Miller/Brewer/Love/Jefferson ... our rotation is instantly better. Telfair, Carney, Foye, Gomes, Cardinal, Smith, and Madsen are ALL reserves as they should be.
