Draft Night

So what are people doing on draft night?

Are people going down to the team sponsored gathering, going to the bar, or hosting a draft party in their home?

Who is going to stay away from the TV and computer until it's over and just check on the aftermath?

I'm going to try to go work out and check it later, but will probably end up coming in midway through the draft.

Going to the draft party, there is free food for the season ticket holders or something, but its easy to sneak down and get some of the stuff, i think they had lasagna one year

I'm gonna have a draft party with a few friends. One thing that draws me to it is that there is a huge "unkown" factor. Nobody has any type of clue what's going to go down. It's like a game of chess. Everybody has all their moves planned out depending on what the opposing player does. I feel like there's going to be some exciting trades and big surprises on who's drafted where. Should be one heck of a fun time. Oh, and if someone wants to make an "Official NBA Draft Night Thread" that'd be sweet. I would.....but I'm lazy sooo..

I don't have TV so I'll either have to go to the bar, watch on the internet, or head down to the draft party.

I guess I don't have much of a choice. I'll stick to the internet for draft night. I've got to hold a lecture on next wednesday morning though. it's going to be a heck of a short night I think.

Kicks off at midday here in AUS so i'll no doubt crawl out of bed late, switch on the TV and prepare to drink away the expected pain

by Dan's with the Wolves
I just hope the Wolves under new leadership will make the right moves. I've never played organized basketball a day in my life. But, I can remember watching each of the last 4 drafts and being happy that a player was still on the board for the wolves pick only to end up with someone else.

2005 Granger's still there (what McCants?!@#@!#$$#)
2006 Roy and Gay are still there (Yes!!!!, ------- What Foye !@@#$$)
2007 Brewer and Noah are still there (Brewer, I would have preferred Noah but I can live with Brewer)
2008 Mayo the #3 ok consensus third best player. I really liked B. Lopez as a trade down (Love I can live with that)

What in store for 2009??
At six my board is Evans, Holiday & Curry
With the sixth pick we have a trade to announce??

I took the day off work and will probably be watching at my girlfriends apartment with a 12 pack of grain belt, either getting drunk and crying about how **** we are or getting drunk and claiming we are going to the play-offs next year.

Grain Belt = Mad Farts

I miss Mai Bock. Finnegan's is how I'm rolling these days. J2J, I hope your Mickey's are 40s.

Mmm, beer. And the draft. And crying. My favorite time of the year.

40's? I wish. They're the hand grenades, 12's.

Nice, you guys like Mickey's? I hardly ever drink, but when I do it is nothing but Mickey's. I have three grenades in the fridge and maybe another 6 pack somewhere. grenades>40s simply for the puzzle in the cap. Although the puzzles are pretty lame compared to what they were a few years ago.

I got an email ago about a draft party at the target center? Has anybody gone to one of these things? are they lame?

I've been to the last two at target center, and will be at this one. The 07 one was in target center and there was some really good food on the court. Last year it was in the practice facility, the food wasn't as good and you didn't get much. Plus it was overcrowded. Hopefully with their RSVP system they will have enough chairs this time. But it was nice to hear the reaction to the picks and the rationale behind them, even though I feel like I was simply fed lies since they said we took OJ for us, then traded him before the morning. Oh and there were free blankets for season ticket holders!

Ah..Mickey's. I remember a house party in college where none of us knew the keg was Mickey's. We got drunker a lot quicker than expected.

I used to get together with some friends and watch the draft, but now with kids and not living really close to each other, probably just going to get the little guy to bed and kick back with a Captain and Coke and hope for the best. I think Mayo and Roy were the only picks I was really happy about in recent years, so I'm not going to be too attached to anything. I think I wanted Warrick and Graham before Grainger, but ahead of McCants back then.

I did go to the Mall of America's sports bar back in the day for a Wolves draft party. Googs and Doug West were there. Got Doug West's autograph right when we drafted Ray Allen and West started celebrating. It was a lot of fun. Might go to the Target Center sometime in the future for a draft party.

There's going to be a live draft show on timberwolves.com at 6:30. I might watch that and the tv while playing with my bunny.
