The Ideal pairing thread for 5 & 6

It's anyones guess who actually falls to 5 & 6, but lets open up the discussion on this for a bit shall we?
After this trade I think MN is actually the least ideal situation for Rubio. We lack shooters for him to create for and while he may excel in the 2 man game with love or al his wing pairings won't have the lights out shooting, nor do we have anyone who will thrive on basketcuts or alley oops. Rubio can't really create for himself, has no pullup. I think he is more than 17 months away from contributing to his potential. Who's the ideal pairing with him on the wing with the other pick? Is it harden? It certainly isn't evans as he's to ball dominant. Curry is a pg at the next level so it certainly isn't him. I think Williams @ the 2 would work well with Rubio, but is somewhat out of our range. Probably budinger too, but again he will probably be gone before 28. Derozan probably.
Evans and harden are the same guy to me, different types of games but similar in size, I give the edge to evans based on his take it to ya mentality. While I like Harden's more cerebral approach to the game. I switch hourly on these 2. They pair fairly well with anyone imo.
Curry can certainly work well with al/love, and he replaces Foye's shooting ability. Can he be an nba point though is the concern. He's certainly quick enough. My problem here is I have teague > curry and I think we can nab teague later with the 18(or slightly with a move up). So why waste the 6 on him?
I think the most bang for the buck is...
Teague (all around solid offensive game)
harden/Evans or Rubio (rubio being the ideal floor mate with teague/rozan, other 2 being bpa )
Derozan (mid range game, basket cuts, transition)

you're right, Thabeet is the best situation for Rubio. Rubio is not good for Rubio.

I am assuming the it will go like this:
LAC - Griffin
Mem - Rubio (will take him and wait for a deal)
OKC - Harden (I hope they take Thabeet, but Harden fits perfectly)
SAC - Curry (May go with Evans, but I think Curry fits better with martin)
For me this would be the worst possible draft situation. If a deal with Memphis doesn't happen (say no to any Love deals) we are left to choose between Thabeet, Evans, Flynn and perhaps Derozan (hopefully he can get in for workout). Thabeet might be taken for value and then traded, but I would be okay with a Flynn - Evans backcourt.
Ideally however, I would want in this order...
Rubio/Harden
Curry/Harden
Curry/Evans
Rubio / Evans
Flynn / Harden
Flynn / Evans

Did I miss something recently about Holiday?
Unless I have missed some breaking news, I would want Holiday before Curry or Flynn.
My vote is for a Holiday/Evans back court. Holiday/Harden works as well.
Derozan should not be sniffed in the first 6 picks. I would easily trade up into the 10-15 range for him though.

I'm liking Flynn/Evans - Curry/Evans - or if Harden falls pairing him up with Holiday would be nice.

I am hoping to see a Harden & Thabeet draft by the Wolves.
I know I'm one of the few that actually likes Thabeet - reasons being that he's a proven true center that the Wolves lack and are in need of.
Harden would fill the void left by Foye/Miller.
Thabeet, Jefferson, Love, and Harden would be the core that I would want to build around - everyone else (Brewer, Gomes, Telfair) can be packaged for a veteran PG or move up to grab one.
For the 18th pick we would need a PG (any of Lawson or Teague). If we need to trade up to grab either of those guys (Gomes + 18) would be fine by me. Or else we would roll with Telfair for another season - which isn't too bad.
DraftExpress has us taking Rubio with #5 and Evans with #6 - which would be awesome.

That would not be awesome. Our backcourt prolly wouldn't make a 3 pointer till January.

Man, a Thabeet, Harden, Lawson draft would be sweet. I'm convinced Harden will be taken by OKC though. That's a dream draft.

Harden/Curry or evans or Holiday depending who drops
rubio will be good but unless the 6,28 gets it done than its pointless
i would rather we keep the picks and went with this
sg-Harden/Teague/Ellington
pg-Holiday/Mills
i really want both holiday and teague on this side but doubt we would get both,is teague capable of playing the 2 in the nba?
and basically if we went with rubio and didntpick up a sg we would be screwed bad ,a brewer/rubio backcourt would make us a useless scoring team

If we make no trades, ideal for me is like this, in order...
Curry/Evans
Curry/Harden
Flynn/Evans
Flynn/Harden
But, I would be the most happy with...
Rubio/Evans
Rubio/Harden

The Rubio debate is growing and growing ... here's a different angle.
We all know Rubio is not a sniper ... he is a passer 1st PG, decent shooter from the 3pt line, and been named the top defender of the year twice. Scouts feel he will develop phyically and will experience a rapid improvement in shooting as his strength improves the next 1-2 years.
We all know Evans has kind of an ugly shot ... he is a slasher/driver Combo-Guard, okay j-shot, and can defend at least 2 and maybe 3 positions.
Harden is a nimble player with few weaknesses and could be considered the "Safe Pick" ... shoots well, decent rebounder and defender. Lack speed for SG in the NBA? Big enough for a SF in NBA?
Curry is a cold-blooded shooter ... buthis defense is suspect. Unlike Rubio, his build does have natural defensive skills and appears more susceptable to the rogorus NBA. Has some PG skills, but is assumed an offensive player/shooter.
Others have said it best. The draft is 90% potential ... If Rubio is a poor j-shooter with other high-level skills ... it's assumed he will develop and become a much better shooter. Same for Evans. Harden SG/SF and Curry PG/SG may be more complete, but may have more phyical limitations for their position. For example: They have more scoring skills, but will they have the physical ability to use them at their NBA positions. I think so, but some don't.

Curry-Evans and Flynn-Harden are probably a tie for me. I wouldn't be upset with Evans-Harden or Flynn-Evans either. With Evans-Harden, I would definitely look at Maynor at #18.
I think 1-3 is Griffin, Rubio, Thabeet and then who knows with Sacto. Memphis and OKC aren't definites, but I think highly likely. Memphis might think they can sign Rubio or wait for the offers. OKC is hard to call, but I still think they like Thabo and trying to deal for Chandler makes me think Thabeet is the fit.

If Hardin drops to 5 pick then draft him. Then Trade 6 pick to Boston for Rondo.I think would be a great back court for Minnesota. I would only trade for Rondo if Hardin drops to 5 spot.

If the Wolves don't get Rubio I would trade either 5 or 6 for Rondo no matter who drops.

Rondo is no good. Great player, but has an attitude, and is about to get paid big time. Do you really want to pay him $12-15 million a year next year? And trade the #6 pick in order to do so?

You're right. But he's still dreamy.
