If the ESPN article hasn't been posted, its pretty good:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4284494Andy Katz wrote: Memphis has refused multiple trades offers from Minnesota because the Timberwolves aren't prepared to part with both the Nos. 5 and 6 picks or toss in Kevin Love in another scenario with just the No. 6 pick, a source with knowledge of the Grizzlies' situation told ESPN.com.
The Grizzlies are, according to the source, prepared to make Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet the No. 2 pick in the draft if they cannot get a deal for the selection.
Memphis discussed sending the No. 2 to Minnesota for the No. 5 and No. 6, but the Timberwolves have consistently said that they don't want to give away two top-10 picks. The Wolves also rejected the offer for No. 6 and Love. The Timberwolves offered either No. 5 or 6 and Craig Smith for the No. 2, but Memphis rejected that trade, too. The source said there was never any discussion involving Minnesota's No. 18 pick.
The Grizzlies aren't seriously talking with any other team about the No. 2 pick, but did have an initial discussion with Oklahoma City for the No. 3 pick and Thabo Sefolosha, although that deal was rejected by the Thunder. The Grizzlies had an initial discussion with the Sacramento Kings to move No. 2 for No. 4 and Jason Thompson but that was declined, as well. The source said New York is not pursuing the No. 2 pick, but the Knicks and the Grizzlies have talked about a straight-up trade with the Grizzlies sending Darko Milicic to New York for Quentin Richardson. Both players have expiring contracts.
Thabeet is atop the Grizzlies' draft board with Memphis' Tyreke Evans second, followed by Syracuse's Jonny Flynn and Davidson's Stephen Curry. The Grizzlies have given up trying to get Ricky Rubio and the source said they didn't want to deal with the buyout issues.

5 + Smith is not enough. 5 + 6 is too much.
Come on. 5 or 6 + 18 + Pekovic!
Seriously, make it happen!

So what would we need to do with OKC to get the deal done? I'm kind of surprised #18 hasn't come up in discussions... I wonder if that Austin Daye promise is actually legit and Kahn really wants him.

I honestly think the FO #1 target is Evans. If Thabeet is locked in @2 I think it's safe to say I'm fine with all no trade up scenarios.
starting with OKC:
harden\evans\rubio
rubio\evans\harden
rubio\flynn\harden
Harden\rubio\evans
No matter what MN should get a of Harden, Evans, Rubio (yay). If we get harden or Evans we can draft a pg @6 ezpz. Holiday or Jennings.
If we get Rubio it appears very likely the draft would have gone harden\evans and that's a little unsettling for me, but I guess we could go derozan there?

I'm really starting to hope that we don't trade up. I want nothing to do with Thabeet, and I'm scared we'd take him.

Kahn has stated in an interview they want to get some length to compliment love and al. While I'd prefer Clark. Daye does fit the bill and would be able to provide some weakside help, and be a spot up shooter.

Yeah why did it go from one extreme to the other? Isn't there any middle ground?

Ok scratch that... Givony from DraftExpress just reported about 20 minutes ago that we offered #5 & #18 and got shot down.

I know I was scared the first time I saw that bag on your head. Those big empty black dots staring out from that brown paper bag reminded me of that villian from the last Batman movie.

I feel if we don't do a trade, I feel this can become the draft order Griffin/Thabeet/Harden/Rubio). If we can get Rubio though 2nd, we have a shot of landing Thabeet 5th.
I don't like it one bit

I am fine with this. let memphis take Thabeet at #2 and if OKC is settled on Rubio, That means we get Harden and one of Evans/Flynn/Curry/Jennings. Swing for the fences with Daye at 18 and get Calathes at #28.
Jefferson - Thomas
Love - Smith
Brewer - Daye - Gomes
Harden - Carney
Curry - Calathes - Telfair

Hmm 5/18 for 3 seems like a good deal for OKC. I don't think the Wolves should offer much more than that. Throw Smith in there and see what they say.

As I said on the MEM board, a trade between us and MEM is hard to make that isn't lopsided. I wouldn't be surprised to see both teams play hardball until the last possible second before a deal goes down. I think that the plan was to get #5 as a last resort and at the latest possible time, but the amount and seriousness of the offers WAS received made us move earlier than we wanted.

Not if you can get Gay in the deal. How about 5, 6 and Brewer for 2 and Gay? Seems pretty fair.

This pretty much means Thabeet really is Kahn's main target after all, and not Rubio. I'm not sold on anyone in this draft to the point where an expensive trade-up makes much sense. I think rolling with 5 and 6 would be prudent. Then again, I'm not a scout.

I don't think we'll be able to get the #2 or #3 without giving up #5 AND #6 or something involving Love. Lets just hope Kahn doesn't give in and actually pull one of those deals when time is running out.
Just keep both the #5 and the #6 and draft the best player available unless another team comes up with a mouthwatering offer.

I'm seeing a lot of mock drafts popping up saying the kings will take Evans, which means depending on who OKC takes, Rubio or Harden (or Thabeet, but i don't see how he helps them) should fall right into the Wolves laps. It would be real nice if somehow they could grab Rubio and Harden.
