Wolves possibly targeting Henderson?

Post#1 » by big3_8_19_21 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:11 am

-Minnesota supposedly may not be done making moves, and could be looking to package some assets and move up even higher in the first round. Right now they seem to be dangling the #18 pick and Nikola Pekovic, possibly to Detroit sitting at 15. Gerald Henderson could very well be their target, as he’s likely gone one pick later by Chicago.

:D I love me some Henderson.

I would rather it be Terrence Williams he is a littler bigger and shots better from outside.

I'd love that, Henderson would give us a shooter to spread the floor and he would be awesome on the defensive end as well.

yeah, I think TW would be a slightly better choice but Henderson isn't bad.

Um, #18 and Pekovic = us getting ripped off if all we get is #15. That should get us to around 12 or 13 and in the position to grab Clark or Williams.

Agree, not enough value for Pek. Really not a fan of Henderson either (based solely off of personal preference, no data to back it up).

Does it help if Detroit is offering to throw in a duffel bag?

This would be a small, subtle deal that could turn out to be huge for us. I like Henderson, and I don't think he'll ever be a star but I doubt he'll bust.

I don't buy the Henderson talk. I think that was a shot in the dark on JG's part. We're definitely drafting two back court players at 5/6, so I would guess we would be trading up for one of Clark/Mullens/Daye/Johnson/Williams.

I don't think Kahn would be looking to move up without getting compliments to our existing roster. That leaves the 3/4 hybrid guy I think we so desperately need(clark). For me that's literally 3 of my top 6 assuming evans and harden are @5/6.

Al\Love\Clark\Harden\Evans

sick? Plenty of lineups to mix and match too.

With thabeet locked in @ 2, Rubio @ 3, and Flynn @ 4. We are sitting pretty for my ideal draft.

If you are building a team around Al this seems like the backcourt to do it.

You and I are in complete agreement. Dear lord I hope it ends up that way.

My first thought is also moving up for Daye or Clark, not Henderson. All three are slotted to go in that 11-15 to maybe 18 range.

Could it be that either Memphis or OKC isn't interestest in Pekovic and doesn't think 5/18 is enough to trade down but they'd consider 5/15 or 5 and a pick in the late lottery? Maybe those teams have targeted someone around that range and would be willing to do it if we could move 18 up a few slots. You'd think a package of 18/28/Pekovic would be able to move us up more than a few slots if we wanted though. Do we overvalue Pek's worth?

By the way, isn't it nice to be relevant nationally again. Even if it's just a few days because of the draft. This is the most Wolves chatter I've read in awhile.

Pek's value will only increase over time. I'd think a team with financial problems IND would be all over aquiring his rights for a pick and a later pick. The problem is he wont help a team now and the draft is the main way to do that.

I think if they wanted to they could move up a couple more spots for Derozan. I think he could fall a little this draft, especially if he isnt taken by TOR. But TOR especially could be interested in a #18 #28 plus cash type of deal for their pick.

I would love a Harden/Evans/Derozan draft. And I too would like T Williams over Henderson, but henderson works as well.

I would not trade Pekovic to move up 3 spots regardless of who the Wolves are targeting. Pekovic alone might be able to net us a 10-20 pick. Especially for a team looking for PF/C help, who may want to defer the money til next year. The Suns, Pistons, Bulls, 76ers and possibly even the Nets all come to mind.

I think it would be for Mullens, not Henderson
