What are your thoughts on the trade of Shaq for Wallace and Pavlovic? Which team benefits more?

Cleveland wins because the two guys they gave up are worthless. Only way Phoenix wins is if Wallace retires immediately.

Shaq actually played well when Gentry was the coach.

ESPN (Chris Broussard) is reporting that Wallace will be bought out & retire...while Sasha may be cut. According to the same report, the Suns will save ~$10M...

CLE loses because Shaq would have helped THIS year, not next year...the teams and matchups in the playoffs will be totally different, and unlikely that Shaq gets CLE out of the East...also, doesn't his presence in the lane make it HARDER for Lebron to get to the hoop?

I like it for Cleveland. Shaq can be effective both ends vs Howard.

Sounds like the Suns arent done either, Broussard mentioned Amares being shopped around lately.

Everybody wins. The Shaq experiment failed, and they needed to move him. Cleveland instantly evens the playing field with Orlando. It will be interesting to see if the Suns can swing Wallace for a contributor in the next 24 hours. McGrady?

Cave lose. This is betting the house on 2010. If this blows up in their faces, LeBron leaves. If they'd have stuck with the status quo, at least they know they win 60+.

Oh, and Suns lose, too. They won't win 40 games. Amare will pout all season. Nash won't return.

Amare got what he wanted but he'll pout anyways.

Two of the most physically gifted athletes on the same time (albeit one is well past his prime)? Not a bad move. If they win a ring because of this, LeBron might stick around.

Cavs win. They need to bet the farm on winning a ring in 2010, because its their only hope LeBron doesn't bolt for NYC. Moreover, since Gilbert decided he'd rather reduce salary than add Mike Miller insurance at the deadline, this move shows LeBron that Gilbert will now pay to put more talent around him. Finally, Shaq's personality and stardom might help keep LeBron around. I understand this costs CLE a fortune, but CLE without LeBron will cost even more.

PHO - Sarver wins. Shaq at $21 mil is definitely negative trade value .. he isn't one of the best 3 players in the NBA any more to justify that salary. They'll save $2.25 mil from the difference in contracts, plus $3.25 mil from Sasha's partially guaranteed contract, plus whatever they can save on Ben Wallace's buy-out (let's say $3 mil). $8.5 mil is about how far PHO is over the lux, so they'd save about $20 mil in salary, lux penalties and receiving their lux share

PHO - Fans lose. They lose Shaq on the court, and get nothing on the court in return. I built a trade earlier where MIN takes Wallace + PHO 1st and PHO gets talent like Mike Miller + Gomes. Since we have no hope of winning next year, and PHO has the aging Nash, JRich and Amare, they'd be better off going for talent.
