hey guys, cavs fan here but I'm not here to troll or hate so please don't lock(and don't let the username fool you, cavs fan since early 90s'), this is all objective from watching numerous euroleague games and specific europe league games..

I've been saying since the Rubio hype started, rubio will be one of the biggest busts if not the biggest in the 2009 NBA draft.

before I go on to speak about my own observations, let these links speak for itself:

ever since the spain vs USA olympic game, I decided I wanted to see if rubio was just having a good game or if he was actually that consistent. so I found spanish forums where there were internet steams to all his spanish league games, euroleague games, etc. what I can tell you is that the guy is not impressive at ALL, as anytime I watched him play he would only score against players who were way too slow to stop him(this won't ever happen in the NBA). even in his highlight videos you'll see that anytime he scores it's because of a blowby cause the defender is way too slow. horrible shooter, bricks every time he shoots the ball, turnover machine, and he has one flashy pass for every 9 flashy passes failed. not to mention the fact he's not physically ready for the NBA.

the only points I saw him score for the most part were breakaway lay ups.. that won't happen in the NBA either. so for everyone thinking this guy is gonna be an allstar PG, he will never be anywhere near that, hell, I'm not even sure if he'll be a starting PG in the NBA. my ceiling for him at the MAX, the absolute MAX, is averaging 10ppg and 10apg, anything more than that and I will be surprised. more realistically(if he gets starter minutes) I see him averaging 8ppg and 4-5apg(on a subpar fg%), or much much worse.

so if any of you guys know the minnesota GM, tell him to TRADE rubio now while you can still get value, and his stock is still high, as the hype is not gonna last forever! this guy should have been a 2nd round pick. you guys seriously got a goose egg with this pick.

as for johnny flynn, I've watched many syracuse games and I believe this guy will become a solid NBA player, as he only needs to improve his 3pt shooting. so I would definitely keep flynn and trade rubio, rubio will be a huge bust!

well minny fans I wish your team the best and I love watching al jefferson play, he's seriously got the best polished post moves in the NBA.

Rubio sucks, he's over the hump and has no room to improve, if he was 16 and not 18 he would at least have some potential

Rubio´s stats are actually pretty solid considering the level of competition.

He started playing pro when he was 14, lol. There is no way, Rubio is going to be a bust.

And about the european risk factor, that doesn´t apply to him because he is european but he is also spanish, lol. I can´t recall a single spanish player that truly disappointed in the nba.

Just with this quote you showed your little or non existant knowledge about Rubio, he played just 5 games in the euroleague while still being injured, with only two games played with over 20 minutes of PT.
I`m from Spain, I`ve seen almost all of Rickys games since he turned pro (I'm a Juventut fan), I wont say he is going to be a perennial All Star or a HOF, but I can assure you he is a terrific floor general and he makes everyone better while playing with him.
Some months ago I said in this particular sub forum that i wanted Ricky to play in Minny, so I hope he doesnt come back to Spain and have a great career playing for the T-Wolves

I know you're exaggerating but no way would a rubio for kidd trade be smart, simply because at THIS moment you could get a lot more for him while his stock is still high and the hype is still around.

obviously if this were a late 1st round pick or 2nd round pick, you couldn't ever call him a bust since at that range players don't have much to be expected from, but at #5 there were still many great players available. flynn at this point is much more NBA ready and will develop into a much better player than rubio.

don't be sold by the highlight videos guys(and even in the highlight videos, the majority of the time he only scores on breakway lay ups or blow by lay ups), you can make anyone look good with a highlight video.

I appreciate your rational tone. We get a lot of crazies in here from other boards trolling. You might be more clear that you just think he has a higher bust potential than normal, but I think you were pretty clear and respectful.

No way Rubio will be a bust! How I hate Grizz FO for pass him. And I don´t know what games have you been watching, but Rubio was 2 times in a row ACB 1 st team and is the actual ACB DPOY.

Rubio will be, at his prime (it will take about 2-3 yrs to reach) averaging 14ppg/14asts/6rebs/3stls with 45+% from FG, 35%+ 3pt and 85% from FT

Rubio will be a mulriple time all-star. he also had a wrist injury. Ricky is AMAZING at splitting the pick and roll. hell be great in the halfcourt and everyone knows what he can do on the fastbreak.

ps youve been a cavs fan since 2003, admit it.

I really like Rubio but 14 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals? LOL. There is no player in the world that can do that. Not even if you go back in time you will find something like that.

they can't see past the fact that he speaks spanish, I think it's pretty similar to the chinese homers(like yi jianlian almost passing garnett in votes for the all star game).

Flynn will be way better than rubio will ever be, I've watched them both extensively.

About his english, i think it would funny to hear him in a commercial saying some words.

He sounds a lot like mexican actor Diego Luna speaking english.

I can appreciate rational and constructive criticism, regardless if I think the conclusion is accurate or not. In this case, I think it is very much on the "not" side. There may be some concerns in regards to athleticism, but you look at his age and battling an injury against men, not high schoolers or college players, men. I think his results were fairly impressive. I think he will compare similarly to Nash, not in exact playstyle, but in making others better first and scoring in opportune places second. Also, you look at Nash and a few others like him, though Nash wasn't a high pick, he didn't come into the league with the abilities he has shown in the past five years. Granted, the expectations for Nash weren't as high due to draft position, but if his somewhat similar playstyle can work and add that rubio has more length and defensive ability, I think Rubio will be far from a bust.

he must be garbage because he led the euroleague in assists and steals. 18 year olds do that all the time, right?
