Decided I should just start a new thread for this. It's from Jerry Zgoda of the star tribs blog.

Love the Kahn man more and more whenever I see him do stuff like this.

He will be our starting point guard here the moment he walks through our front door.

That is what I like to hear.

That's awesome. Think he's on the Obama mailing list? That's what this reminds me of...

Hopefully the bluster from the Rubio camp is just that and they'll come around to being in MN. Take him for a walk around the lakes and see how he feels then!

No doubt, that was a great piece. And glad that hes upfront about the fact that either way were gonna need a couple of years to be a contender.

he didn't say anything about Michael. An open letter and nothing about the King of Pop???

Stoked he did this and agree on most points.

My only problem is that all the small backcourt examples he gave that were success stories were all relevant to the past, like +20 years ago... The game has changed in my book and I just dont see the combination working in this era

Hopefully it all works out

we still need a crazy good SF then if his 4 building blocks are Love/Jeff/Rubio/Flynn. Talking about a great defender that can also be a #1 perimeter scorer. Tall order.

Hard to believe that people are impressed by this fluff.

How can you take anyone seriously who writes, "That we have only one life to live, and that we must spend our lives trying, as Pat Riley once taught me, to leave footprints." Please.

Well at least he owns it now - no putting it on the old regime holdovers. His footprints are all over this now.

You have to like the honesty. Rubio was the right pick regardless of when he decides to come over.

The letter didn't do too much to dissuade my current concerns.

The small backcourt sounds sincere, and possibly is. At the same time I find it plausible that Kahn had reason to believe that he could turn the #5 into Rubio and then into a better player/package than we could get in this draft, which would explain taking Flynn #6.

Like the transparency but I'm still not buying the two-PG backcourt. Flynn at 5'11" will get torched by SGs. And saying that Rubio is the starter when he walks in the door is just settng up a very awkward situation. What if he goes back to Spain for a year or two and Flynn lights it up as the starting PG? I still think as soon as they get confirmation from Rubio's camp that he will play here next year, Flynn is gone for a wing player.

Ricky starting and Flynn being a super sub makes the most sense. We still need a GF who is a scorer and can play quality D. As Devilz said, tall order indeed.

I wonder if we got the #1 star that we need, which Khan thought we didn't have.

The fun part is that time will tell

Except Kahn said they wouldn't spend a top 6 pick on a non-starter. IDK, it could work in theory, I just don't see either player satisfied as a sub long-term. But as FairDinkum said, time will tell.
