Rubio to Real Madrid?

Have you thought it over about what could happen if Rubio doesn't come to the NBA immediately?
On the one hand, Rubio has sued his team, and on the other hand, there's another team in Spain, a multi-million dollar team that is rebuilding his basketball section: they hired Ettore Messina (from CSKA Moscow and are acquiring important players). Real Madrid was already interested in Rubio one year ago.
Real Madrid have made some Real signings these past weeks. They spent $56 million for the Brazilian soccer player Kaka, who came over from AC Milan. They spent $131 million dollars for the Portuguese international Christiano Ronaldo.
For a team like Real Madrid, Rubio's buyout ($6.6 million dollars) it's peanuts. His General Manager won't miss this opportunity. Today I read this on one of the most important spanish newspapers:
http://www.sport.es/default.asp?idpublicacio_PK=44&idioma=CAS&idnoticia_PK=624581&idseccio_PK=808The headline: "Florentino (Real Madrid GM) going after rubio". I won't be surprised if Rubio stays forever in Spain.

I'd be pretty surprised if he stayed forever in Spain, he fancies himself as some sort of superstar in the making, but he'd spend his career in the minors?

Someone clearly doesn't understand the buyout situation. And I'm far too much of an **** to explain it to you.

Being from Europe I think it is possible...with Messina the new coach they are building a new Championship team.
As one newspaper stated Mesina will bring Holden/Siskauskas from CSKA...Nesterovic is in play, also big prospect sf/pf Velickovič, C Papadopolous and Bourousis.
If this happens he will stay there at least 2-3 years, but with Messina the coach he can only get better.

If you're implying that a team can only pay $500k for the buy-out, you're wrong, as that's obviously only true for NBA teams. Real Madrid (or any other Euro-team) could pay 100 million if they wanted ...
But anyway, Rubio said many times he wants to play in the NBA, now his camp (especially his agent) are just trying to see what his options are and/or put him in the best position. The Wolves just need to keep calling his camps' bluffs ...

The only way that happens is if he suffers a career ending injury, then he'll just sit around as a cripple in Spain for the rest of his life.

Can this whole forum stop hating on Rubio, he can whatever he wants. If he wants to stay in Spain let him. It's his home country after all.

The priority for Rubio is playing in the NBA (as he has said many times) so I don't think he will stay overseas for more than one season.
And I dont think either that Real Madrid is going to pay that huge buy-out only to enjoy the kid for one season.

Yeah, it's not Wolves fans that are hating. It's jealous fans from other teams.

Real Madrid could agree with Joventut for a $5.5 million buyout, for example, sign Rubio for a multiyear contract with a nice-but-moderate salary (say $1.2 million net) and place something like a $2.5 million buyout after the first two years. That would mean something like a $3.5 million cost per year, which seems a lot, but it's probably less than Navarro makes in Barcelona, or Papadopoulos himself in Real Madrid. And right now, there's nobody anywhere near Rubio in terms of marketability in Spain.
Why would Rubio do it?
Firstable, because right now he simply doesn't have the money to go to the NBA, and probably isn't as eager to fight a very complicated battle just to go to a situation he doesn't seem to be particularly fond of.
Then, if he intends to remain in Spain, signing with Real Madrid (or F.C.Barcelona for the matter) would provide him much more finantial security (a long contract with a good salary) than remaining with Joventut, he would avoid the pain of going back to Joventut (the team's president has said they don't want him back, and I'm not sure the fans would fully support him), and the money he would make in the following two years -did he decided to pay the buyout to play in the NBA- would be very similar, if not significantly better (there would likely be much more money from endorsments if he plays for a Spanish powerhouse, especially Real Madrid, rather than for Joventut).
So I would consider it a real possibility.

It was so obvious what he wanted to say with that. The kid just doesn't speak english very well and you make it sound like he's arrogant.

I think at the end of the day he will play in the nba. Just not in Minnesota, and will be good.. I mean.. could you imagine possible coach Mitchell playing Rubio ahead of Flynn?? This guy hates euros.
