Daniels?
Marquis Daniels is now a free agent.
Is he worth a look to help fill our shooting guard spot? He is still quite young and could be a nice veteran to grow with the kiddies. Id be willing to chuck $2-3 million a year at him.
What you guys think?

Re: Daniels?
Good player, but not a shooter, so not a great fit.

Re: Daniels?
I thought he was kind of a headcase?
We need to get past the Mchale patching holes idea.

Rev
From all reports his headcase days have passed, Indiana Fans seem to think he was a posative influence, the only reason they didnt pick up his optin was the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) amount of money it would have cost (seven odd million).
I dont think he is a patch for a hole, 2-3 million is about right for a mid-age roleplayer

So we rolling with them for 48 mins? A rookie and a 3rd year player who didnt play his second season at all and could take quite alot of time to come back from a horrible injury.
Yep... that makes me happy, IM not saying Daniels is a player that will come in and be the missing peice. I just think he could be a good option as a low-cost vet who can help.

Re: Daniels?
I love it when guys say "book it". Ok, consider it booked!
My first reaction is that he was a headcase too, but maybe it's true that he's straightened out. Either way I dont think it's a perfect fit. He's not a bad player, but I think he tends to be injured a lot, and his outside shooting isnt great. And he's 28, not old by any means but not right in line with our young core either.
He's the type of player I would have liked to have in the KG years rather than during the rebuilding years.

Re: Daniels?
I have no problem with Marquis Daniels is its a 1-year deal. Last year was his best season ever.
28 years old, 6-6, 200 lb.
31.5 MPG, FG 45.1%, FT 72.1% 3P 20.0%, 4.6 RPG, 2.1 APG, 13.6 PPG
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/marquis_d ... index.html
I should also clarify something. I often say that our season starts in 2010, and I don't care if we do moves that hurt us in 2009 if it helps longterm. Well, that's only partly true. We still want to be able to put a team on the floor this year that at least has a chance to compete. We don't want to disillusion the young players completely, and selling tickets and reclaiming fans would still be a good thing for Taylor. However, I would work hard to make minor moves that do nothing to reduce our 2010 effectiveness. A one-year deal to Marquis Daniels would fit that criteria for me.

I like him but he does not fit and is just another role player, we don't really need him.

Re: Daniels?
I think that you can "book it" that we are not signing any free agents this offseason unless they are vet min types. I think we are going to just even out a roster a bit with all our PF's and PG's, while keeping the same (or better) cap flexibility we currently have.
I could see a S&T for Marvin Williams... maybe...

I dont see us going after Marvin WIlliams anymore, although he now fits even better into our system with Flynn and Rubio at the guard spots.
