Wolves Player Development Plan

Post#1 » by Dan's with the Wolves » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:07 am

Kahn claims the Wolve are or should be in the player development business. I wonder what the player development plans look like for each of the Wolves key pieces this off season?

Jefferson: Knee recovery, better shape, post defense, passing out of double teams, range on his jump shot;

Love: Better shape, range on his jump shot, post moves, "KNEE INJURY PREVENTION";

Flynn: Range on his jump shot, other?;

Rubio: jump shot, strength training

Brewer: Range on his jump shot, ball handling

Ellington: defense, ball handling, other?

Gomes: better shape, 3 point percentage, defense

Gomes shot pretty well from long distance last year. I wouldn't mind seeing him become a better ball handler though.

I think it's pretty simple. Everyone needs to improve all aspects of their game. The things you hit on, naturally, will be focal points.

consistency is key for Gomes. In my experience playing and coaching consistency can either be a confidence or conditioning issue.

i'd like Telfair to learn to be a bit more of a pest on defense. He's never going to be a great defender, but he could become that Iverson type who just harasses everyone on the court and just makes a few steals and maybe can pressure the ball full court now that he won't be playing 30+ min a game

Weight training for Brewer could probably be added. He's gotta get strong enough to stay in front of the Lebrons. 110 lbs wont stop 275

Last year we were very excited about starting the season with 3 40% 3pt shooters - Foye, Miller, Mccants. All of them are gone. Do you guys think Gomes could be our 1st option now?

^ Depends on who else we sign or trade for this offseason. I would be worried if Gomes was the first option.

Rubio and Brewer need to hit the gym. The whole squad needs to work on defense.
