If Rubio goes to a bigger market, it is not NY (my thought)

If Rubio's agent is demanding that he plays in a bigger market NY would not be the first choice. NY has a pile of Bile to offer. LAC could put together a package including Gordon/Jordan and next years pick. So why would we talk to NY?
I know we watch too much of the 4 letter word so we think NY is the only option, but here are the 13 cities with bigger media than us and possible things they could offer. (Yes, we are the 14th according to rabbit ears
# New York City, New York
# Los Angeles, California
# Chicago, Illinois
# San Francisco, California
# Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
# Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
# Washington, District of Columbia
# Boston, Massachusetts
# Miami, Florida
# Detroit, Michigan
# Houston, Texas
# Phoenix, Arizona
# Seattle, Washington
There are 13 teams here (la has 2, sea=0) What are some of the packages?
LAC could start with a Gordon/Jordan/our first/their first which would be a nice package. any other ideas? If Rubio's agent forces us to a bigger market why not get value?

lac could work a package of Gordon/Jordan/ourpick/Their pick
Chicago likely does not work with Rose
Warriors could work Curry, Biedrins, Monta, Wright, Randolph
Philly could use Thad Young, Holiday, Speights
Miami could use Beasley
My point is that even if the feeling is Rubio will only play for a big market, there are at least 4 other big markets that could blow away the pile of steaming poo NY has to offer.

Those guys would probably not move for Rubio.. Of course there are teams in the league with better assets than NY, but most of them are untouchable... at least not touchable for Rubio.. To make a trade you have to find pieces that a team wuol accept to move.. The cases you made, don't look possible

oh...
last thursday we got the best basketball prospect in NY (flynn) keep the overpaid scrubs on NY. I mean really, you do not even have a first round pick next year.
You have expiring contracts, but we do not have any nasty contracts we need to ditch
Gallinari? Could have value, I like him a lot, but hardly worth rubio.
YOU HAVE NO 1ST RD PICK NEXT YEAR
Chandler has become the most overrated player on realgm. McCants put up similar numbers 2 years ago. He is a nice defender, but is hardly a finished project.
Wilcox, I mean Hill, is redundant as another pf.
We do not want to pay Lee 10mil as a back-up (as if he would agree anyway) or NateRob

How do they not look possible?

1) lac could work a package of Gordon/Jordan/ourpick/Their pick
Gordon had outstanding rookie season, I highly doubt they want to trade him..
2)Warriors could work Curry, Biedrins, Monta, Wright, Randolph.. Well.
. Randolph no, he is jesus apparently .. Curry just got drafted and love him.. Wright and Biedrins play in your star's spots... Monta.. maybe yes.. do you really want him?
3) Philly could use Thad Young, Holiday, Speights..
Young is their future.. Speights and Holiday don't look more attractive than Chandler to me
4) Miami could use Beasley
I know Riley doesn't love Beasley, but is he ready to give up on such a talent to take a european point guard? I don't think so.
Maybe I'm wrong, who knows, that's what I think

ok, this might be hard to explain to a NY fan. In a trade you provide value to one team in order to get value back. In order to get a good player you need to give up a quality asset. There are special exceptions, but MN does not have bad contracts.
A clippers deal would need to be built around Gordon.
You are telling me that GSW would not move Curry for Rubio?
I know young is the future, look at my first point about value.
You need to provide value in order to get value. That is the problem with a NY trade. You lack the young stud or the 1st rd draft pick.

I'd really prefer to let him rot in Spain then let him pressure us into trading him.
a package starting with Beasley would be something i would think about.
Gordon and our pick back, and stuff has me salivating. it would make perfect sense for Kaaaaaaaaaaahn! he'd be fixing a McHale mistake and getting someting decent in return.

**I do not either** ask anyone, I have been obsessed with Ricky for a couple years.
the purpose is to show diluted NY fans that if we do fold to the demands of moving Ricky to a bigger city then NY is behind 4 other teams for offers.

As a humble fan of a small market beer league basketball franchise, I'd be flattered to accept whatever New York deems suitable to give us. I only hope the small market stiffs we employ don't infect the new talent.
I swear, the prospect of dealing with the actual New York Knicks! I'm giddy.

NY has nothing to offer, so stop responding to the trolls...assuming your premise that he has to be moved, I would either wait a year and trade him to LAL for Bynum or move him this year to...to...I can't find a single SF or SG I would trade him for (realistically, not the untouchables)...anyone have suggestions?

Is Chandler really that bad??
He is 22, a starter, possesses off the chart athleticism, good all around skills, he is a nice kid,so no bandits in your team.. could easily develop into a Richard Jefferson type of player. He looks good player to me. You have the PG, 2 bigs.. you need a guard that can shoot(you also have Ellington), and a high flyer SF.. Chandler could fill the that spot in the prototypical starting five in the Nba.

Am i the only one not totally buying the bigger market thing ? I mean sure for endorsements going to NY , LA etc etc would be great but IF Rubio is going to be a 'SUPERSTAR" then those endorsements will or should find you. I mean take Lebron he is not in a huge market but he is doing pretty well for deals so like i said if he becomes a Superstar then the deals will come to him.

No, Ripcity, I am not buying it either...in the NBA, all you have to do is win and be special and the press and attention will find you...

Rev, do you think Rubio would have been more inclined to come Minnesota if we hadn't picked Flynn? And if yes, do you think it was a mistake to take Flynn as opposed to Curry, Derozan, etc.?
I'm on record as saying he'll never play a second in a Twolves uniform, but I hope I'm wrong. I do think we'll get good value for him. We are in no hurry to trade him. Value might be better next year than this.

He's not that bad, he's probably worth a mid first round pick; but he is nowhere near the value of Rubio and that's why all the trades with him are turned down since he is always the main piece in a knicks trade.
Also we have no interest in Lee (because we already have 2 PF) or Robinson (if we want him, we would make him an offer during free agency); so do not include him in any deals.
In reality, a Gallinari + #8 for Rubio might have been fair, but Rubio's chances of going to NY went down by a lot with the selection of Hill(unless Hill is swung to a 3rd team)
