what will be our openning day lineup and rotation look like?

Post#1 » by Mcfale313 » Sun Jun 28, 2009 2:55 am

Just watched a video on NBA.com, Eric Snow thinks Telfair will start for at least the first few games before Flynn/Rubio takes over, anybody think that would happen?

personally i think

If Rubio stays in Spain, our lineup will be

Flynn/Telfair
Brewer/Ellington
Gomes/Carney?
Love/Smith/Songaila
Jefferson/Thomas

other players probably have little to none PT, unless its garbage time

if Rubio is playing

Rubio/Flynn/Telfair
Flynn/Brewer/Ellington
Gomes/Ellington
Love/SMith/SOngaila
Jefferson/Thomas

Even if NY was in a deal it would need Gallinari and Chandler. It is still crap on toast, but Chandler alone does not come close.

I'm not sure that NY would do a Chandler for Madsen trade, but I do like your creativity.

Assuming above, does this team win 24 games next year? Especially given question marks with Al and Brewer injuries? And if not, is there any heat on Kahn? I mean that team could have a brutal season.

well I will just go off the roster as of today so,

PG-Jonny Flynn
SG-Wayne Ellington
SF-Corey Brewer
PF-Kevin Love
C-AL Jefferson

I think that in the beging that Telfair and Flynn will split most of the time at PG.Any way you look at it if you don't make another trade or sign a few good FA were looking at a real long and I mean long season. If this is our line up I don't think we can even win twenty games.

Kahn has already stated Rubio is THE PG. Kahn totally intends to play the rookies - alot. I agree that is the right thing to do for this team at this time. Telfair has had several seasons to prove he's a starting PG ... odviously he has not proven it to anyone.

That said there are two or three decent ways we can go, but I'd expect...
PG=Rubio ... gift natural PG ... leadership is unknown at 18.
CG=Flynn ... has played off the ball at Syracuse and that's why he's okay with all this.
SF=Brewer ... I like his improving game, and likewise, can't handle Gomes slower style.
PF=Love ... earned it, but I believe he could be a 6th man of the year if we get a C..
C=Jefferson ... yep.

Telfair is screwed ... his only chance of seeing the floor is if Rubio stays in Spain.

I am extremely excited right now. If the Rube does not set roots in MN, I will likely convert all my support into the Gophers.

Telfair is backup PG with guaranteed 20-25 mpg, Rubio isn't ready for a full-time NBA season at point guard spot. Similar to Watson/Westbrook situation in OKC from last season.

Kahn told Rubio, "You are the starting PG the second you come through the door". The decision is already made ... and it's the correct one.

As they say, "We're not in Kansas anymore"

... With the Rube in place, I struggle to see Telfair for anything over 5 minutes unless there's an injury.

There is 48 min at PG position, and with Flynn playing off the ball most of the time, there is plenty of PT for both Ricky and Telfair, what's so hard to understand there?
Ricky will not be ready for 30+ mpg right of the bat. In fact he may be not ready for them by the end of next season. He's 18 years old, his body is not there yet and transition process from europe to NBA will take A LOT of time.

If Chandler is so good why are you so eager to give him up?

Jeez. Honestly, I'd rather see Gomes play than Chandler anyway, and oh yeah, we already have Gomes on the team.

How about:

Rubio
Flynn
Lawson
Calathes
Jefferson

But seriously...David Kahn needs to get Rubio a big 3M or general mills sponsorship, make him the face of Lucky Charms (Like Kevin Love posted on Twitter haha http://twitter.com/kevin_love ) that should get him enough money to come over. What more does this kid want! When we get healthy we have to be one of the best worst teams in this years draft, did he want the lakers to trade up for him?? COME ONE RICKY! Senor Amor is crying out for you! (See Kevin Love Twitter again lol)

Rubio
Brewer/Ellington
Gomes
Love
Jefferson

Even though I hope ellington turns it on quicky and it can be gomes off the bench and rubio, ellington, brewer in the backcourt. Sweet!! Trade flynn for brandon roy and then we are set. lol. that was a joke. but I hope we end up with ricky and not jonny if one of them HAS to be traded
"I need some Spanish. How do I say, Ricky please come to Minnesota, play PG for us PLEASE? AND has anyone ever told you that you sound like the lucky charms guy? Imagine his assists are the cereal and we all want his lucky charms" -Kevin Love

Neither has to be traded. But this team is far from being set to the point that we should be looking at rotations.

What we do know is we have more talent. Let the Rubio situation settle and bring in our coach before we declare a line-up.
