Thomas' trade kicker was already figured in by storytellers and split at the proper salary ratio between '08 and '09 cap years, so his figure is correct.

2nd round picks have no cap hold, so peckovic and norel have none.

gomes's salaries for '10 and '11 are guaranteed for 1 million for each year,
but become fully guaranteed if not waived before 6/30/2010.
right now it would be hard to imagine waiving him, but things change,
and numbers are included for purpose of maximum possible cap room.

draft picks almost always sign for 120% of scale, so I used those numbers.
scale numbers count until they're signed, but the difference is insignificant because our cap room is less than the MLE anyway. using scale figures would add about 1.2 million of cap room should we need to use direct cap room to make a trade or signing.

since rubio is currently under contract in europe, it is possible his cap hold does not currently count (as fran vasquez's doesn't count on orlando's cap). I am not certain of this however.

this would push our minimum cap number down to 54.7 million, which while not room enough to warrant a fa signing could convince a team in lux hell or pursuing a FA to give up an asset for taking on a small contract.

Anyways it might be nice to have a sticky so people with cap questions have something to look at that doesn't disappear quickly.

Interesting, I assume "different" meaning less cap room (and a better player), since telfair and songaila are the only guys we'd "dump".

No cap holds for Norel or Pekovic because they were 2nd round picks. There's no salary scale for 2nd round picks.

2010 is still a long ways off, but I was expecting to have more cap space in 2010. Maybe I was hearing 15 mil prior to the Washington trade?

Currently if all options are picked up, we are at approx 41.1 mil + about 6 mil in cap holds is only about 8 mil under a cap estimated at 55 mil.

I assumed Gomes wouldn't be bought out, Pecherov would be extended (big ?), and 6 mil in cap holds to get ~8 mil under number.

I'm sure plenty will change over the next year, I just figured we'd be further under. 8 mil might be enought to bring Pekovic over, but that might not be the best use for the cap space.

Why would we extend Pecherov? He's proven to be horrible.

He's 7' tall - I said it was a big question that we'd pick up his option, but was willing to err on the conservative side as to figuring out our cap space for 2010 in case he flipped a switch for us.

No idea how to pronounce his first name though, so based on the already proven rule, you're probably right about him sucking.

It counts during the off-season, but not during the regular season.

thanks for the confirmation. his cap number would go off the books on the first day of the regular season and back on the books on july 1 of every subsequent year.
This effectively keeps the cap hold there for pursuing free agents and removes it for luxury tax purposes (tax is always calculated using salary numbers on the last day of the regular season.

this would put our cap number heading into free agency at about 57.4 million, including rookie cap holds at 100% scale.
