Thanks to the Ricky Rubio situation, I've had the chance to read a lot of reports on the subject from the New York media and it's taught me a great deal about how the world really works. Namely, that large cities have the right, nay, duty to publicly bitch about how they should have all of the best talent in the world. It's theirs and you will like it that way.

Seeing that Minneapolis/St. Paul is the 14th largest media market in the country, while we may not be the biggest fish in the pond, I figure that we are deserving of a little whining righteous demanding of our own. Here are some teams that owe us players via lopsided trades a'la Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler for Ricky Rubio:

Wait 'til Ricky gets to set up a christmas tree and see snowflakes falling outside through the window, he will be thinking wtf was I thinking sweating my ass of all those years, this is sweet! Yea, I seriously don't understand what people have against winter. It you are the everyday man and you need to go out and start your car, take the bus, or do some type of work outside during that time then I can see some minor complaints. However, you are never cold inside anywhere. If you are making the money an NBA player is making you wont have to worry about shoveling anything or doing anything in the cold you don't want to.

The skyway system allows players who live nearby in the city to go from their homes to games without ever setting foot outside! Minneapolis is like one the most technologically savvy cities in the country and we have a handful of cool ways to get around. People blow it way out of proportion.

Haven't driven myself anywhere for squat. I have taken the city buses for most of my transportation and walk to other locals. I'm doing my part and dem some!

I got to say, I used to think like all the rest of you regarding the Minnesota winters, but after living in Los Angeles for eight years I got to say every time I go back to Minneapolis in the winter time I am miserable. You guys have a tolerance, so you don't know better. For example, last year I was in Minneapolis for New Years. We were waiting in line to go to some New Year's party down town, but after about 30 minutes we had to give up and head for the nearest restaurant. Alas, our new year's plans were ruined and I seriously had to weigh taking my girl friend to the emergency room for about 30 minutes. It's too freaking cold man.

Meh. If you moved back, you'd be acclimated within the year. I spent 23 years in Texas before moving to Minnesota. I'll take the winters here over summers there anytime.

These professional athletes live a very protected and pampered lifestyle anyway. They aren't going to be just driving around town on Sunday morning just for something to do or going ice fishing. I'd be willing to bet the average NBA player spends 95% of his time indoors anyway between practice, games, travel, rest, etc.

If there is a legitimate complaint about winter in the north it is the length of daylight. If someone suffers from SAD, they will have a problem. Otherwise, winter is no big deal, even for transplants.

Winters in Minnesota are a mindset.

I grew up in Iowa, and when it got cold, we stayed inside.

You guys actually embrace winter! Who decided that when its so cold that there's ice on the lake, that's when you should go fishing? Or your passionate love for the sport of hockey? that's a sport that barely exists in Iowa! Or you guys don't have the mountains for skiing, but you you want to be outside so much you go cross-country skiiing?

I'm an active guy, and this attitude is something that impressed me when I moved up here. I think athletes would soon discover that winter in Minnesota is just a new type of playground.

Depends each winter but on average you get some cold nights in late October, like 40s-50s. November through February anywhere from 0-40s, mostly in the high 20-low 30s range. March you get a combo of very cold days to 60s. Its a very wide range. For instance today it is in the mid 60s and a few days ago it was mid 90s.

First, had to trade SUV/Hybrid thing in and now drive a mini-van (cries to himself and blames the family).

Second, if you are dressed appropriately for the outdoors, waiting in lines shouldn't be an issue. Long, warm winter coats/trenchcoats and the coat check for the win!

Third, it can get below 0 for a month-ish or so depending on the extremes of that particular winter. The windchill is what really gets you though. Usually winters are sub freezing from November to February give or take a month and few degrees.

Finally, plenty of ways to stay warm, and that's all I am going to say about that.
