Boozer, Okur, and the 2010 draft

Boozer and Okur are not opting out, and are staying with Utah this year.
This really helps ensure we get their 2010 1st, which is top 15 protected.

Since the bottom 2-3 playoff teams likely come from the east,
with a healthy boozer and okur all year Utah should easily make the playoffs
and we should end up with their pick, likely in the 18-24 range.

good news for wolves fans because the protection increases to 17, 16, 16 if we don't get it in 2010.

Good, 18-ish next year will have more value than 18 did this year for us.

Speaking of future picks we get, does anyone know the protection on the Charlotte via Denver pick we get past top-12 protected next year?

2010 first round draft pick to Minnesota
Charlotte’s own 2010 1st round pick to Minnesota via Denver (top 12 protected in 2010, top 10 protected in 2011, top 8 protected in 2012, top 3 protected in 2013, and unprotected in the 2014 NBA Draft). [Charlotte - Denver, 6/25/2008 and then Denver - Minnesota, 6/25/2009]

Utah's pick should be a given. Hopefully in the 15-20 range, but you never know. it could easily be in the 20-25 range if Utah is healthy.

For some reason I thought Charlotte's pick was lotto protected. Not top-12. hmm. Looks good to me.

With OKC reportedly offering Millsap 5/65 mil

do you guys think Green become available?

LAl,
ORL,
CLE,
BOS,
SA,

Definitely better

DEN
POR
NO
DAL

possibly better

HOU (no Yao)
MIA
WAS
ATL
CHI
PHI/DET

Probably worse

Likely looking at 21-25 pick in that scenario.

West lottery teams:
HOU/PHX
GS
LAC
SAC
OKC
MEM
MIN

East Lottery Teams
DET/PHI
IND
CHA
MIL
NJ
TOR
NY

The Bobcats will likely have to be 9th or better in the east for us to get their pick (13th or worse), because the 14th pick will likely go to the 9th team in the west.
Okur, and especially Boozer made alot of sense to detroit, they must be on plan B now.
Maybe David Lee and Ben Gordon.

In 2011 the protection drops to 10th, where us getting it might be more likely.

okc is insane if they offer that, that contract is a franchise killer.
don't see how utah re-ups milsap now with 72 mil already committed.

Pistons board is saying that I can't think they would pay that much, But won't surprise me

I hope they do pay that much. Kills their cap and they get a big guy that I am confident will not stop Al or Love.

Do they go small with Millsap at 5 and Green at 4?

I think in that case Green comes off the bench to back-up both Millsap and Durant, with Durant occasionally getting a couple minutes at SG in a big line-up.

they did overpay krstic.
I really didn't want to see thabeet in OKC or Rubio in Memphis,
Memphis helped us when they screwed it up for both of them.
If they sign milsap then green rotates in at the 3&4.
Al/Love will destroy them inside regardless of milsap.

Wow, in this market, 13/year for Millsap?

sound like he'll make a really nice expiring deal in 5 years. lets see who will be cutting costs in the summer of 2014 when someone is looking to sign Oden/Durant

If that's true, that is awful. I thought OKC had a smart FO?

Laughing Out Loud. OKC will screw themselves if they offer Millsap 5/65mil.

Good for us though. I think Green will get expandable then but we don't really have anything OKC would take for him. They need only a C then and we have don't have anyone to offer they would actually like.
