Apparently Bassy is feeling motivated by the news PGs.

Yeah, it sounds good in the article, but he's still Sebastian Telfair, and one summer doesn't change that. He's still going to be the sub-40% FG speedy point guard that can't finish at the rim and has a streaky jump shot.

If Telfair makes some improvement, he will have more trade value. He's a career backup PG if he stays here. If Flynn performs and/or Rubio comes over ... Telfair is history. He's had several seasons to improve, and for a team that's rebuilding, there's no incentive for us to delay progress of younger players.

Unless he grows and becomes a better defender, he won't get much playing time with Flynn here.

I think we should showcase him the first month of the season and let Flynn learn and hopefully we could trade him later on.

I'm a Telfair fan (might be the only one left) but every off-season you see stories like this, in the gym all summer, working harder then even and coming back new and improved. He always comes back as the same old Bassy though. If he can get the mid-range jumper and improve on shooting 3's I still think he could be a good player.A system were he could run and gun might help him too.

His jumper is inconsistent which screams mental. Sucks he has not fixed it. If Rubio stays in Spain then Telfair as a back-up will be a must. Hopefully he is a positive influence on Flynn. You could argue that Flynn is in the same mold as Bassy but with defensive desire, crazy finishing ability and a nice mid range jumper.

I don't think it's a must at all. We'd certainly have to have another PG on the roster, but that PG doesn't have to be Bassy.

Ben Woodside FTW!

You need a vet. Bassy is fine for a year.

Bassy's been in the league for awhile, but I don't know that I'd label him a vet mentor type. I'd be okay with Bassy for a year, I disagree with it being needed or a must.

I'd rather trade Bassy for an expiring and hire a PG coach. John Stockton(or Terrell Brandon, or whoever) is around somewhere, make him a special assistant instead of using 2010 cap space. Flynn will learn more than if he's relying on Bassy.

Sure, and if Bassy had those attributes, he would actually be a good basketball player.

I hope Bassy's mojo from late last season carries over
