I was asking teams if they had an expiring SG that they may just want to get off the team, in an expirings-for-expirings swap, and loserX suggested OKC may feel that way about Damien Wilkins ($3.3 mil), with Harden on board.

I'm still a fan of swapping expirings for Bobby Simmons ($11.24) as well.

Can you think of anyone else that fits this group? SG's that no longer fit, or may steal minutes from an SG a team wants to develop?

eh, I would rather just roll with Ellington and Brewer at SG. Maybe re-sign Carney and let him get some run there. Might as well give the guys on our roster who are more likely to be here long term a shot at the minutes and development. I don't know how much of an upgrade Simmons or Wilkins would be anyway.

I think if we traded for one of those guys the would fit your criteria at the end as a SG that may steal minutes from someone else that we would want to develop.

Not that I think we are set at SG, far from it, but I don't see the need for a one-year band-aid. I'd look to deal for a long term starting 2-guard solution, but again, I'm not big on the idea of a one year rental.

Telfair/Songalia for Jaric

Anyone else thinking that there might be the possibility of Telfair and Flynn being on the court together a lot?

Telfair might be working his ass off after so many PGs got drafted.

Telfair could be on the court with Flynn some, but I don't like it. That would mean Flynn has to guard the SG's so then we already have two GIANT mismatches. I don't care how hard Telfair works, I don't think his skillset potential is anything near a quality starter...

I'm not saying it's a good idea... I'm just thinking it might happen.

Tony Allen, Scalabrine, Pruitt, Walker for Gomes, Brown, Songalia (we get TA to play some SG this year, and Walker can play some SF)

Detroit could use some C depth; pecherov for afflalo might work

I do think Bellinelli could be an option; bellinelli for Pecherov, 2nd round pick; I don't know if that would be enough but Bellinelli won't get much playing time in GS

My favorite is getting Weaver from OKC; weaver and Atkins for Telfair and Smith might work but might not be enough

Jaric was barely played last season, so for MEM his contract is almost a total $15 mil loss ... $7,100,000 7,625,000. Even in general league value, Telfair's probably a fair contract at $2.5 and $2.7, and Songalia's probably overpaid about $2 mil a year, so this would be a giant savings for a team needing to save money ($15-$4 = $11). MEM would have two players they could trade, but Songalia would probably help them.

Jaric's value here would probably be at about a $3 mil range, so instead of being worth $-15, he'd be worth about -$9. Telfair's even, and Songalia, in our PF-rich environment probably is about a $-6. The difference here for the two teams ($-11 vs $-3), creates plenty of trade value.

I'm a little concenred though that its a one-way street eating our 2010 cap space, because we could never trade Jaric, but Telfair and Songalia, on much better contracts, are easier to get out of. But if we got enough other compensation, I think there's enough trade value here that a deal could get done that both teams would be happy with.

But what do they have?

I'm not sure how Carney got along with other players, but I think he's the most logical option to get us going ... I assume we'll have more significant change coming by the trade deadline this winter as teams posture $$.

I really don't think we can do to much until the Rubio things takes shape. If we're truly selling him on a Rubio/Flynn combo, then I suspect we'll keep that position available until we know he's not coming. On the flip-side, I doubt Kahn will allow a huge hole at SG that risks a negative impact to his interior players like Love/Jefferson.

Memphis has 2010 Lakers 1st as an asset, they could trade a protected Memphis 1st, they also drafted Carroll or Young this year who could help us.

So when you see SG, you read "Ess Jee", eh? When I read it I just jump to "Shooter Guard" so "An SG" sounds weird. Just interesting linguistically.

If Rubio doesn't come over, I don't think it be wise to trade Telfair.

^Why? There are always more guards, and it's not as if the Wolves will be competing or as if Telfair has shown he can be anything resembling a 'mentor' to Flynn. I'd like to move Telfair to a contender who could use him 15-20 minutes per game in the role for any sort of value the Wolves can get.

Let's see how Harris does in Summer league first.

Cartier Martin is looking pretty decent for the GSW summer league team. He's a 6'6", strong, swingman type that plays hard, rebounds, and knocks down open shots (at least today). I know the Wolves worked him out when he came out of Kansas State, don't know what he's been up to since.

Jerel McNeal also looked good in the game I watched (GSW vs. Sacto). 4-4 (one long two and several nice drives), hit a cutter and played good defense.

I wouldn't mind giving either of them a look if they don't make those respective rosters.

I read "Ess Jee" but grammatically I would still write it as "a SG" because of what it WOULD be if it weren't abbreviated. I guess I'm a hybrid.
